Mountain Home 35, LR Southwest 7

October 9, 2026

Easton Shrable ran for three touchdowns and Conner Gentry added two rushing scores as Mountain Home pulled away from Little Rock Southwest 35–7 Friday, Oct. 9, in 6A-West play.

The Bombers scored 21 unanswered points after halftime to earn their fifth consecutive victory and improve to 5–1. Southwest fell to 0–6. Shrable supplied the early spark and the fourth-quarter insurance, while Mountain Home’s defense repeatedly limited the damage from a penalty-filled first half.

After an early Mountain Home fumble gave Southwest possession in Bomber territory, Corbin Lefevers delivered a sack and Saxton Bodenhamer helped stop a third-down scramble. The Gryphons turned the ball over on downs, and Mountain Home converted its next possession into the game’s first points.

Gentry’s consecutive keepers moved the Bombers inside the 20 and then to the 1, where Mountain Home recovered another fumble. Shrable scored from a yard out with 2:52 left in the first quarter, and Isaac Ballard’s extra point made it 7–0.

Shrable struck again with 40 seconds remaining in the quarter, following a pulling block from Eason Recktenwald on a 60-yard touchdown run. The extra point stretched the lead to 14–0. Southwest then produced a goal-line stand early in the second quarter, stopping the Bombers on fourth-and-goal from the 1.

The Gryphons made it 14–7 on a short rushing touchdown and successful extra point with 3:56 remaining in the half. An interception and a late fumble helped Southwest keep that margin intact despite being outgained 257–35 in the first half, according to the XL7-TV broadcast’s halftime report. Shrable had 151 yards on 16 carries at the break; Gentry had 51 rushing yards and 55 passing yards.

Mountain Home took control in the third quarter after recovering a Southwest fumble near its own 38. Kanye Worman’s reception moved the ensuing drive to the Gryphons’ 29, and Shrable helped carry it inside the 5. Gentry scored on a 2-yard keeper with 5:38 left, followed by Ballard’s kick for a 21–7 lead.

Shrable finished another drive with a short touchdown run behind Ford Coleman on the opening play of the fourth quarter. Ballard converted with 11:54 remaining to make it 28–7. Southwest’s next possession ended with Will Rauls’ interception, after an earlier apparent interception by Rauls had been erased by a roughing-the-passer penalty. Bodenhamer also contributed a sack during that series.

Gentry closed the scoring on a 1-yard keeper with 2:15 left, and the extra point provided the final margin. Mountain Home visits Siloam Springs on Oct. 16, while Southwest travels to Lake Hamilton.
