Bentonville West 48, Fayetteville 14

Bentonville West seized control early and never let go, riding a dual‑threat night from quarterback Trey Thompson, a swarming defense, and a near‑perfect kicking game to defeat Fayetteville 48–14 in Centerton.

Thompson powered the Wolverines with an early keeper for six, a pinpoint touchdown pass, and a back‑breaking 35‑yard scramble on third‑and‑16. Running back VJ Warren complemented the ground attack with a red‑zone score and chunk gains on screens, while the defense flipped momentum with two non‑offensive touchdowns: a pick‑six by Ashton Jones and a scoop‑and‑score late in the third quarter. Kicker Nick Burn was stellar, drilling field goals from 35 and 44 yards and converting every PAT.

Fayetteville’s answer came out of halftime. Quarterback Hank Hendricks—accurate and courageous under heavy pressure—found wideout Katavian Taylor behind the secondary for a 52‑yard strike, part of Taylor’s workhorse night (12 receptions, 144 yards). Earlier, running back Caleb Johnson’s 4‑yard plunge briefly cut the deficit in the second quarter. But five turnovers and a rash of personal fouls repeatedly stalled promising drives.

Defensively, outside linebacker Will Price and end Will Casten generated pressure and a sack, while defensive back Brody Jones snagged an interception to set up a short field. For West, linebackers Justice Flanigan and Charlie Guthrie spearheaded a disruptive front that hurried throws and closed running lanes.
