Wray’s Four Touchdown Passes Lift Harding Academy Past Tech

Krews Wray threw four touchdown passes, including two to Joseph Myles, as Harding Academy opened conference play with a 39–13 victory over Greene County Tech on Friday night at Eagle Stadium. The Wildcats earned their first win of the season behind touchdowns through the air, on the ground and on defense.
Harding Academy led 12–0 after the first quarter and added 20 points in the second. Rhett Watson’s interception return for a touchdown completed the first-half scoring, and Wray’s fourth touchdown pass extended the lead to 39–0 in the third quarter. Tech answered with rushing touchdowns from Brett Boone and Ashton Addison.
The Golden Eagles opened with a defensive stop, forcing Harding Academy to punt on its first possession. Lane Compton also supplied an early offensive highlight, securing a one-handed reception through contact and adding yardage after the catch.
Harding Academy struck on its next possession. Myles crossed from the left side of the formation, caught Wray’s pass and reached the end zone. Tech blocked the extra point, leaving the Wildcats ahead 6–0.
Wray’s second touchdown required a throw under pressure. Compton rushed off the edge, but Wray delivered the ball down the seam to Angelau Kamdem III, who caught it without breaking stride and raced to the end zone. Tech disrupted the two-point pass attempt to keep the margin at 12–0.
Addison helped extend a Tech possession early in the second quarter by converting fourth down on the ground. Harding Academy’s defense then held, and a long field-goal attempt came up short.
The Wildcats responded with a touchdown drive featuring completions to Bax Howell and carries by Ryan Ross. Compton stopped Myles on a screen during the possession, but Harding Academy continued moving the ball. Ross finished with a 5-yard touchdown run, and the extra point made it 19–0.
Wray added his third touchdown pass before halftime, extending the lead to 26–0. Tech punter Nick Otero subsequently converted a fake punt into a first down, keeping the Golden Eagles’ possession alive. Watson then stepped in front of a screen pass and returned the interception for a touchdown. Harding Academy took a 32–0 lead into the break.
The Wildcats’ first possession of the second half began at their own 5. Wray found Kamdem for a first down, then connected with Myles for another long touchdown. Myles pulled away after the catch to finish the 95-yard possession. The extra point made it 39–0.
Tech used Davontae Williams on direct snaps throughout the second half and scored after its defense forced a turnover on downs. Boone took a handoff, accelerated into the open field and beat the final defender for a third-quarter touchdown.
The Golden Eagles assembled another scoring drive in the fourth. Williams reversed field behind a block from quarterback Gavin Cupp, and Boone’s next carry took Tech inside the 20. Addison finished with a run up the middle, and the extra point completed the scoring. Kayden McDermott also contributed a rushing gain during that final touchdown possession.
