Gravette senior QB HUDSON HARRIS passed for 202 yards and 3 TDs, with senior CADE PHILLIPS emerging as the top target (4-59-2). Junior ILB CALVIN BIRD led Gravette’s defense with 12 tackles, while senior AUSTIN WOLF had 4 stops, including 2 sacks.

 Class 5A Dardanelle (1-0) at No. 2 ELKINS (1-0): A rematch of last year’s state title game that Elkins won 31-14, avenging a Week 1 4-point loss to the Sand Lizards. Dardanelle dismantled Class 3A No. 1 Mansfield by 25 points a week ago. Elkins QB AUSTIN BORN generated 255 yards (132 rushing, 123 passing) in last week’s 33-28 win over Class 5A Pea Ridge. QB JAYVON CHATEN led Dardanelle, running for 130 yards and 2 TDs, while BREYDIN HARDY ran for a TD at RB, and on defense made 19 tackles and 1 interception.

Sequoyah, Okla. at PRAIRIE GROVE (0-1): Both teams dropped their openers; Sequoyah fell to Inola, Okla. by 30, and Prairie Grove gave up a second-half lead in a 3-point loss to Pottsville. The Tigers led 30-12 at halftime before giving up 3 unanswered TDs in the third quarter. Senior QB NOAH BOWLING passed for 160 yards and 2 TDs and ran for 129 yards and 1 TD.

Jay, Okla. (1-0) at GENTRY (1-0): Jay, Okla., beat Locust Grove, Okla. in last week’s opener 47-25, while Gentry shut out Paris 40-0. QB SEMMIE GUENTHER passed for 401 yards and 3 TDs and ran for 1 TD, as the Pioneers put up 488 yards.

Huntsville (0-1) at No. 9 OZARK (1-0): These teams haven’t played since 2023, when Ozark beat Huntsville by 26 points. Huntsville lost to Lamar last week 27-0, while Ozark beat Class 5A Maumelle 36-14. Hillbilly junior JOHN SKOLARSKI ran for 271 yards, and senior EASTON FOX ran for 89. Fox also made 6 tackles, including 1 sack.

Class 3A Greenland (1-0) at GREEN FOREST (0-0): Green Forest beat Greenland by 16 points a year ago, but Greenland has won 6 of the past 8 in the series. Greenland beat Lincoln by 21 points a week ago. Green Forest didn’t play last week, but scrimmaged Yellville-Summit 2 weeks ago. Senior JACE MEADOR recorded 5 tackles and forced 1 fumble.

Westville, Okla. at LINCOLN (0-1): Lincoln has won 5 of the past 7 over Westville, but lost last season by 4 points. Lincoln fell to Greenland by 21 points last week. Senior TYSON COCKRELL ran for 92 yards and 1 TD, and recorded 12 tackles, while QB KORBIN PRICE passed for 205 yards and 2 TDs.

No. 13 Lonoke (0-1) at Class 5A HARDING ACADEMY (0-1): Harding Academy beat Lonoke by a combined 76-25 in 2 previous meetings (2022-2023). Lonoke lost to top-ranked Stuttgart 35-19 a week ago. Senior RYDER INGLE made 7 tackles and ran for a TD, while LB JONATHAN HIXON ran for 1 TD and made 5 stops. Senior LEVI COOK registered 6 tackles and broke up 7 passes.

LAMAR (1-0) at Clinton (0-1): Clinton has won 10 of its 13 meetings with Lamar, including the past 2 years by a combined 101-36. But the Yellow Jackets started 3 sophomores and played many more in last week’s 44-14 setback at Forrest City. HAROLD MCNABB threw a 55-yard TD pass to CORT ALEXANDER and HAYDEN JONES for a TD. Lamar junior QB KARSTEN SCHLUTERMAN passed for 161 yards and 1 TD in last week’s 27-0 win over Huntsville. Senior GRADY MARVEL (14-69 rushing; 10 tackles) and WHITMAN STORMAN (9-120 rushing; 10 tackles) played well on both sides.

Heber Springs (1-0) at No. 13 HIGHLAND (0-0): This is the first meeting between these teams since Highland’s 40-14 victory in the 2012 quarterfinals. Heber Springs beat Atkins 56-28 a week ago. Sophomore QB SPENCER SUGG passed for 193 yards and 2 TDs, and senior LACHLAN TUBBS threw a 25-yard TD pass and caught 3 passes for 36 yards. NOAH ENGHOLM caught 2 TDs and stood out as a blocker at H-Back. Highland beat Class 5A Valley View 13-0 in a one-half scrimmage game 2 weeks ago. Senior QB AUSTIN CHRISTY passed for 169 yards and 2 TDs, with JAMES JENSEN catching both TDs..

No. 20 HG Haskell (0-0) at Class 3A BISMARCK (0-1): HG Haskell has won 6 consecutive games in the series, but they haven’t met since the Cardinals’ 35-point win in 2017. Haskell didn’t play last week, but scrimmaged Glen Rose and Arkadelphia 2 weeks ago. QB JACKSON ESTES ran for a TD and threw a 67-yard TD pass in the scrimmage game, while LANE BEATY caught the TD pass and made 7 tackles. Sophomore CB CASH POTTER had 4 tackles and broke up 2 passes.

Class 3A Cutter Morning Star (0-1) at CAC (0-0): These programs meet for the first time since 1990. Cutter Morning Star lost to Fountain Lake a week ago. CAC scrimmaged Fountain Lake 2 weeks ago, but the starters only played 1 quarter. Inside linebacker CAM MOATS and sophomore OL AYDEN OWENS performed well in the summer for CAC.

MAYFLOWER (1-0) at Hope (0-1): This is the first meeting between these programs. Mayflower QB SYLIAS HANCOCK threw 4 TD passes and ran for another in last week’s 35-13 win over Beebe. LANGSTON LASALLE caught 2 Mayflower TDs. Hope lost to rival Prescott 46-0 a week ago. Hope linebackers J’KARI GULLEY (10 tackles), JOEL BELLO (8 tackles) and CAYDEN HAYWOOD (10 tackles) played well.

Riverview (0-1) at BALD KNOB (1-0): These programs have played 13 of the past 14 seasons (missed 2020 game due to Covid), with Riverview holding a 7-6 advantage. But Bald Knob may have an advantage this fall. QB SEFTON PALOMARES threw 1 TD pass and ran for another in last week’s 51-18 win over Class 2A Marianna, while KEEGAN SMITH ran for 104 yards and 2 TDs. Jonesboro Westside blanked Riverview 35-0.

No. 6 SOUTHSIDE (1-0) at Class 5A Jacksonville (1-0) (Thurs): This Thursday night game could be one of the better in the state this week. Jacksonville mercy-ruled Watson Chapel a week ago, while Southside slipped past Brookland 35-23. Senior QB TREY ALLEN passed for 235 yards and 2 TDs and ran for 104 yards and 3 TDS, while CASH NEAL intercepted 2 passes and blocked a kick. Offensive linemen COLE VAUGHN and CHASE CORSER matched up well against Brookland’s big, physical defensive front.

Class 5A Nettleton (0-1) at GOSNELL (1-0): Nettleton has won 6 of the past 8 meetings, but this is the first time they’ve played since 2019 (69-32 Nettleton victory). But Nettleton was shocked last week with a 39-33 setback to Vilonia, while Gosnell creamed Caruthersville, Mo., by 35 points. QB JAMAR ALLEN passed for 195 yards and 1 TD, ran 9 times for 80 yards and 2 TDs.

POCAHONTAS (0-1) at Class 3A Salem (0-1): Salem has beaten Pocahontas the past 2 years by a combined 22 points. But Salem may struggle some after graduating a large, productive senior class last year. The Greyhounds lost to Class 5A Greene County Tech last week 31-6. Pocahontas lost at Thayer, Mo., last week. QB SPENCER JAMES passed for 150 yards and 2 TDs, while XAVYER BALLARD tallied 150 yards (90 receiving, 60 rushing).

Blytheville (0-0) at Class 3A OSCEOLA (0-1): Blytheville has beaten Osceola 3 consecutive meetings, including 20-19 last fall. Former Cross County defensive coordinator KATON HILL debuts as Blytheville’s coach. The Chickasaws scrimmaged Cross County 2 weeks ago. DL JAMES RILEY and LB XZAVION LIDDELL played well. Osceola lost Class 5A Mills last week 30-14.

Forrest City (1-0) at CLASS 5A WYNNE (1-0): These rivals have played every season since 2006, with Wynne winning 16 of the 20 meetings in that span. Forrest City handled Clinton last week by 30 points. Wynne beat Class 6A Marion last week by 13 points. Wynne senior KADEN CRAWFORD ran for 4 TDs.

 Trumann (0-0) at Class 3A WALNUT RIDGE (1-0): Walnut Ridge has beaten the Wildcats the past 2 seasons (35-6 last year and 29-28 in 2024). Walnut Ridge beat East Poinsett County a week ago by 39 points. Trumann lost its scrimmage to Brookland 7-0. The Wildcats forced 3 turnovers. Sophomore CARLOS MORALES led the Trumann rushing attack.

Hoxie (0-1) at JONESBORO WESTSIDE (1-0): Hoxie has beaten Jonesboro Westside the past 3 seasons by a combined 76-19. But Jonesboro Westside has dominated in its scrimmage against Piggott and in last week’s 35-0 win over Riverview. DREW WOODS ran 11 times for 170 yards and 2 TDs for the Warriors, while BRAYDEN WILLIS made 4 sacks.

Class 5A Pea Ridge (0-1) at No. 10 BOONEVILLE (1-0): Pea Ridge won all 3 meetings with Booneville (beat the Bearcats twice in 2017, including 22-19 in the quarterfinals). The Blackhawks hung with defending Class 4A champ Pea Ridge last week before falling by a TD. Booneville beat Charleston 33-27 a week ago. Senior BRODY CHAMBERS ran for 147 yards and 2 TDs, including 16-108 in the second half, and he carried it 6 consecutive plays late in the fourth quarter to gain 2 first downs and put the game away. Junior HAYDEN DANIEL ran for 101 yards and 2 TDs, averaged 27.5 yards per kickoff return and registered 5 tackles.

Class 3A CHARLESTON (0-1) at Pottsville (1-0): Charleston has won 5 of its 6 meetings vs. Pottsville, including last year by 35 points. Pottsville rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit last week to beat Prairie Grove by 49-46. Junior PENN HELTON ran for 144 yards and 2 TDs, while TYSON THACKET ran for 153 yards and 2 TDs. Charleston junior QB LUKAS BURLESON threw 3 TD passes, while junior FIN SCHMALZ tallied 167 yards (99 rushing, 68 receiving) and made 13 tackles in a 34-27 loss to Booneville.

MENA (1-0) at Class 3A Mansfield (0-1): Mena has won 9 consecutive matchups over Mansfield, but the last came in 2015. Mansfield lost to Dardanelle last week by 55-30, while Mena squeezed past rival De Queen 55-49 in overtime. QB HANK ROSE threw 2 TDs and ran for 178 yards and 2 TDs; CHANCE HUGHES ran for 183 yards and 4 TDs.

Class 3A West Fork (1-0) at WALDRON (1-0): These teams haven’t played since Waldron’s 49-14 victory in 2017. Both teams won last week (West Fork beat Mountainburg 36-33, while Waldron beat Clarksville 35-10). Waldron ran for 275 yards, led by JAXON BROWN (13-105-2 TDs). QB ELI KLUTHE ran for a TD and threw a TD pass, while AUSTIN HUDSON ran for 1 TD and made 5 tackles. Brown led the defense with 7 stops.

Dover (1-0) at Class 3A ATKINS (0-1): Atkins has won 6 of the past 8 meetings with rival Dover, including last fall 49-0. But Atkins couldn’t stop Heber Springs’ passing attack last week (lost by 28 points). Dover beat Lavaca by 8 points last week, its first win since 2024. Sophomore JORDAN PETERS led the o-line with 5 pancake blocks.

Subiaco Academy (0-0) at Class 3A PERRYVILLE (0-1): Subiaco Academy returns to 11-man football after finishing as the unsanctioned 8-man state champion a year ago. The Trojans didn’t play a scrimmage due to a lack of numbers and plan to dress 21 players this week. Perryville lost to Class 3A Quitman 35-7 a week ago.

MAYFLOWER (1-0) at Hope (0-1): See comment in 2-4A.

 Class 5A Hot Springs (0-1) at No. 7 ARKADELPHIA (0-1): Both of these teams are coming off losses (Greenbrier beat Hot Springs 46-13, while Camden Fairview beat Arkadelphia 40-18). Arkadelphia QB TURNER ROSS threw and ran for a TD, while MARION BROWNLEE ran 8 times for 44 yards. Brownlee led the defense with 12 tackles, while HUNTER YARBER had 6 tackles, including 3 TFL.

Malvern (0-1) at No. 1 STUTTGART (1-0 ): These teams have split their 10 meetings, with Stuttgart winning by 35 points a year ago. Malvern was penalized 10 times for 60 yards in the first half of last week’s 38-17 loss to Warren. QB AARON PINKSTON and RB BRAD SALING combined for 196 rushing yards. Stuttgart beat rival Lonoke by 16 points last week. Senior QB CAIN PRICE passed for more than 300 yards and 2 TDs, and he ran for 2 more TDs. BRADLEY BENTON led the D with 10 tackles and 2 blocked extra points, while BEAU BARNES had 2 sacks.

No. 3 Nashville (1-0) at Class 5A MAGNOLIA (0-1): Magnolia has won 19 of the 24 meetings with Nashville in the modern playoff era (started in 1969), including last fall 30-6. Magnolia lost to El Dorado by 7 points last week. Nashville QB DJ JEFFERSON passed for 237 yards and 3 TDs in last week’s 49-25 win over Bismarck. JACOBY HOPSON ran for 147 yards and 3 TDs and caught 2 TD passes, while TRENDON NORTHCROSS registered 9 tackles and 1 interception.

 Class 3A PRESCOTT (1-0) at Ashdown (0-1): These teams haven’t played since Ashdown’s 34-0 win in 2005. Prescott beat Hope 46-0 a week ago, while Ashdown lost to Atlanta, Texas 36-8. Ashdown senior BRYSON FRENCH had 150 all-purpose yards and broke up 4 passes on defense. MARION LEWIS led the defense with 10 tackles, including 5 TFL and 1 sack.

No. 4 WARREN (1-0) at No. 15 Fountain Lake (1-0): These teams meet for the first time. Warren senior WR JOSIAH STEEN caught 6 passes for 182 yards and 3 TDs in the first half of last week’s 38-21 victory at Malvern. Senior QB JACKSON DENTON passed for 292 yards, and RB JAKOBY AVERY ran for 113 yards and 2 TDs, including the game-sealer late in the fourth quarter. LB XAVION MILLER had 10 tackles and 1 interception. Fountain Lake senior WR PEYTON HARWOOD caught 12 passes for 222 yards and 3 TDs in last week’s 48-31 win over Cutter Morning Star.

Class 3A Centerpoint (1-0) at FOUKE (1-0): Fouke has beaten Centerpoint the past 2 seasons by a combined 10 points. Centerpoint beat Class 2A Murfreesboro by 8 points last week, while Fouke bested Horatio by 44 points. Fouke jumped to a commanding 35-6 advantage in the first half.

Genoa Central (1-0) at Class 3A PARKERS CHAPEL (1-0): This is the first meeting between these programs in 11-man football (played twice in 8-man football in 2023, with Genoa Central winning both). Genoa Central beat Class 2A Spring Hill 18-0 last week. QB ZACH DEATON threw a TD pass to MICHAEL RAWLINSON early in the first quarter, then DYLAN WILLIAMSON returned a muffed punt for a TD. COBY FIKE added a late TD run for the Dragons.

HAMBURG (1-0) at Class 5A White Hall (0-1): White Hall beat Hamburg by 20 points in the 2012 opener, and these teams haven’t played since. But White Hall surrendered 70 points to Sheridan last week, while Hamburg beat Dumas 30-6. AIDEN ROBINSON led Hamburg’s defense with 16.5 tackles, while JADE CANELY caught 4 passes for 130 yards and 2 TDs.

Class 3A GLEN ROSE (0-1) at DeWitt (0-1): Glen Rose beat DeWitt in nonconference games in 2006 and 2007. DeWitt coach Jason Hathcock graduated from Glen Rose in 2004 (Glen Rose coach Bryan Weatherford was Hathcock’s D-line coach), and coached at his alma mater from 2016-2020. DeWitt sophomore LAYDEN BURNS caught 3 passes for 67 yards and 1 TD in last week’s 28-point loss to Rison, while XA COX, CAMERON MITCHELL and KAIDEN GOLDEN all racked up 7 tackles on D.

Class 5A PINE BLUFF (0-1) at Watson Chapel (0-1): Pine Bluff has beaten its Jefferson County rival each of the past 5 seasons, including 32-8 last fall. The Zebras lost to LR Parkview last week 34-26, while Watson Chapel lost 45-6. Watson Chapel sophomore WR TYLIN SHELTON caught a TD pass, while senior DT DAVID HENDERSON finished with 5 tackles, including 3 TFL.

Class 3A DUMAS (0-1) at Star City (0-0): These teams have played every season since 1966, with Dumas winning 39-0 last season. Star City was slated to play Barton in Week 0 before Barton pulled the plug on its season just 48 hours before kickoff. Star City scrimmaged Rison 2 weeks ago (Rison kicked a field goal as the second quarter expired for a 17-14 win). Senior AMARION IVERSON, junior JAMARIAN SPENCER and junior OT/DT ADAM SULLIVAN played well for the Bulldogs.
