Price’s Five Touchdown Passes Lead Stuttgart Past Malvern

STUTTGART — Quarterback Cain Price completed 15 of 20 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns as Stuttgart defeated Malvern 44-0 Friday at Ned Moseley Stadium. The Ricebirds scored touchdowns on their first six possessions.
Price opened the scoring with a 22-yard touchdown pass to running back Tayquan Hall on fourth-and-5. Jay Griffin caught the next touchdown pass, giving Stuttgart a 14-0 lead with 7:20 remaining in the first quarter.
Ky’marion Wiley added a touchdown reception on third-and-10. Brilon Hogan then intercepted a pass, setting up Price’s 11-yard touchdown throw to Jordan Minor. Stuttgart led 28-0 after one quarter.
Hall scored on an 8-yard run with 10:19 remaining in the second quarter. Keaton Byers intercepted a pass on Malvern’s next possession, and Price connected with Wiley for another touchdown, extending the lead to 42-0.
Stuttgart added a safety with 7:04 left before halftime when a punt snap sailed into the end zone and was kicked out the back. Parker Ellis made all six extra points.
Wiley finished with three catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Griffin had five receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Linebacker Chandler Chambers contributed two third-quarter plays: a tackle for a 14-yard loss following a high snap and a fumble recovery at Malvern’s 19.
The Leopards’ defense stopped Stuttgart on downs after the recovery, keeping the Ricebirds scoreless throughout the second half.
Malvern quarterback Trevor Hodges moved the chains with a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter, then converted fourth-and-2 with a keeper that reached Stuttgart’s 32. The Leopards advanced to the 31 before Stuttgart forced consecutive incompletions to end the possession.
The Ricebirds retained possession for the remaining 3:36. Quarterback Braxton Kirkdoffer drew an offside penalty with a hard count on the final series, and Stuttgart completed the shutout to improve to 2-0.
