Hazen 42, Marshall 0

Hazen scored six rushing touchdowns and collected four takeaways in a 42–0 victory Thursday at Marshall, improving to 2–0.

Noah Adkins finished the opening possession with a third-down touchdown run around the left end. Hazen added a two-point conversion run for an 8–0 lead.

Adkins converted fourth-and-short on the next scoring drive. Dalton Jones then took a handoff around the right side for a touchdown, and the extra point extended Hazen’s lead to 15–0 with 3:21 remaining in the first quarter.

The Hornets recovered a fumble on Marshall’s next possession. A third-and-19 completion and a face-mask penalty moved Hazen inside the 1-yard line. A quarterback keeper produced the touchdown, putting the Hornets ahead 21–0. Marshall broke up the conversion pass.

Neither team scored in the second quarter. Marshall stopped a fourth-and-one run and took possession near Hazen’s 30. The Bobcats advanced into the red zone before Maverik Snider intercepted a pass.

Marshall’s defense also stopped Hazen’s final possession of the half. Hayden Haynes broke up a pass during that series, and an incompletion on the final snap kept the score 21–0.

Hazen stopped Marshall on fourth down to begin the third quarter. Morgan Berg followed with a touchdown run, and the extra point made it 28–0.

Marshall quarterback LJ Gallagher scrambled across midfield for a first down on the ensuing possession. Hazen recovered another fumble later in that series.

The Hornets added a touchdown on a pitch around the left side near the end of the third quarter, extending the margin to 35–0.

Marshall kept Hazen out of the end zone after a fourth-quarter fumble recovery gave the Hornets possession inside the 20. Colt Yarbrough converted second-and-six during the fourth. Hazen later scored its sixth rushing touchdown on another pitch play and kicked the extra point for the final margin.
