Gentry’s three touchdowns lead Mountain Home past Rolla, 44–21

Conner Gentry threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as Mountain Home defeated Rolla, Mo., 44–21 Friday at Bomber Stadium. The Bombers improved to 2–1.

Nazsier Johnson opened the scoring on a three-yard run in the first quarter. Isaac Ballard’s extra point made it 7–0. Rolla answered when Blaine Sbabo connected with Jay Loos for a touchdown, tying the game with 2:20 remaining.

Gentry found Kanye Worman for a 33-yard touchdown pass, and Ballard’s kick restored Mountain Home’s lead at 14–7 with 1:21 left in the quarter.

Braden Lara recovered a Rolla fumble to set up a scoring possession. Gentry converted fourth-and-one with a two-yard keeper before throwing a 29-yard touchdown to Gus Wilber. Ballard’s kick made it 21–7 with 6:51 remaining in the first half.

Johnson scored from one yard out with 1:10 left, extending the lead to 28–7. On Rolla’s next possession, Kobe Dotson forced a fumble that Ford Coleman returned for a touchdown. The extra point failed, leaving Mountain Home ahead 34–7 with 55 seconds remaining.

Ballard kicked a 39-yard field goal with 9:09 left in the third quarter. Sbabo’s 14-yard touchdown run brought Rolla within 37–14 at the 4:48 mark. Wilber intercepted a pass on the Bulldogs’ next possession.

Terrell Simmons scored on a fourth-quarter run, cutting the margin to 37–21 with 6:18 remaining. Mountain Home answered with a drive that included four Saxton Bodenhamer carries. Gentry finished it with a nine-yard touchdown run at 3:50.

Gentry completed 10 of 17 passes for 142 yards. Wilber caught five passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. Johnson finished with 39 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries, while Bodenhamer gained 68 yards on 11 attempts.

Sbabo passed for 155 yards, completing 12 of 19 attempts. Loos caught five passes for 78 yards and a touchdown.
