CENTERTON — Max Eldridge scored five rushing touchdowns, including the go-ahead one-yard run with 1:15 remaining, and Beckham Floyd intercepted a pass at the 1 to preserve a 51-48 victory for Shiloh Christian (8-1, 5-1) over Bentonville West (7-2, 4-2) Friday night.

The Saints trailed 48-38 with 7:17 left before Eldridge scored twice more. He finished with 31 carries for about 200 yards, according to the broadcast’s postgame tally. Floyd’s interception with 26 seconds remaining ended West’s final threat, and Eldridge carried the ball away from the goal line to finish the game.

Eldridge’s one-yard run with 4:54 left cut the deficit to four, but West blocked the extra point. Shiloh forced a three-and-out, with Corbin Miller pressuring Sutton Mackey as he released an incomplete third-down pass.

The Saints’ final scoring drive survived a penalty that erased a Cole Creighton run to the end zone. Facing third-and-21, Creighton found Cohen Beach down the left sideline for a 33-yard gain to the 1. Eldridge scored on the next play, and Kallen Hunnicutt’s extra point gave Shiloh its first lead since the second quarter.

West reached the Shiloh 22 on its final possession. Mackey stepped up and threw over the middle, but Floyd read the pass and intercepted near the goal line.

Creighton had opened the scoring with a 43-yard run. VJ Warren answered with a short touchdown run, and Ethan Robinson’s 25-yard field goal put West ahead 10-7. Eldridge broke a 45-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-one early in the second quarter.

West then turned special-teams opportunities into points. Robinson made a 40-yard field goal after a running-into-the-kicker penalty gave him another attempt. The Wolverines recovered fumbles on consecutive Shiloh kickoff returns, and Mackey followed with touchdown passes to Asher Swoboda and Ty Ross for a 27-14 lead.

Eldridge’s one-yard touchdown with 1:38 left cut the halftime margin to 27-21. Ross scored on a catch-and-run on the opening play of the third quarter, but Creighton answered with a 56-yard touchdown pass to Tate Barnard. Hunnicutt’s field goal brought Shiloh within 34-31.

Warren recovered a mishandled direct snap and ran for a touchdown with 2:11 left in the third quarter. Eldridge’s three-yard score with 10:12 remaining made it 41-38, but Warren’s third rushing touchdown restored West’s 10-point advantage before Shiloh’s final comeback.
