WHITE HALL — Sheridan opened fast and finished faster, rolling past White Hall 58–28 in the Highway 270 rivalry opener.

Senior quarterback Dax McMellon distributed the ball with poise, throwing four touchdowns—two to junior receiver Wylie Depriest, one on a pop-pass to sophomore Walker Shields and another to sophomore Hunter Socia. Junior tailback Zay Stephens hammered three rushing scores behind a veteran offensive line.

Sheridan’s defense supplied the glue. Sophomore Ross Stevens intercepted a fourth-down throw, junior edge Laighton Tarter notched a sack, and cornerbacks Brayden Lewis and Lawson Wallingsford stacked multiple breakups as the Yellowjackets denied the deep ball and flipped field position throughout the middle quarters.

White Hall authored big moments of its own. Junior WR/CB Kel McEntire was electric, housing a kickoff and later catching two touchdown passes from senior QB/P Wyatt Golden. Senior RB Xavier Wallace churned out tough yards, sophomore SE/OLB Tyler Blankenship moved the chains underneath, and senior OLB/RB Tyrus Greene flashed in space. Senior kicker Zane Davis drilled his PATs.

The hinge sequence arrived late in the second quarter: after McEntire’s kick return gave White Hall a 14–12 lead, Sheridan answered with two rapid drives—Stephens’ red-zone burst followed by a McMellon-to-Stephens isolation screen behind guards Brian Bowman and Ethan Nichols—to seize a 28–14 halftime advantage. The Jackets then recovered an onside kick to open the third quarter and landed back-to-back strikes to create separation they never relinquished.
