Hot Springs Lakeside 42, Sheridan 12
Sheridan opened its home slate with energy—recovering an onside kick and forcing a red-zone stop—but Hot Springs Lakeside’s senior leadership carried the Rams to a 42–12 victory at Yellow Jacket Stadium.
Lakeside quarterback Wally Wolcott showcased poise, throwing three touchdown passes, including two to standout wide receiver Drew Morgan. Running back Tremendous Cain provided balance with a bruising ground game, highlighted by a long fourth-quarter scoring run. Senior wideout Ajay Burns added another touchdown catch as the Rams displayed their depth and execution in all three phases.
Sheridan answered early behind quarterback Dax McMellon, who powered in for a rushing touchdown before later connecting with wide receiver Dylan Smith on a scoring strike. Running back Isaiah “Zay” Stephens consistently moved the chains, while wideouts Walker Shields and JP Black made key grabs to keep drives alive. Defensively, linebacker Jaxson Delk anchored the middle, lineman Laighton Tarter notched a sack, and defensive backs Ross Stevens and Lawson Wallingsford battled against Lakeside’s speed on the perimeter.
The Yellowjackets’ effort kept the contest tight into the third quarter, but the Rams’ late surge—three unanswered touchdowns—proved decisive. Both programs demonstrated toughness and showcased playmakers who will factor heavily into the 2025 season.
