Atkins 38, Conway Christian 0 — Week 2, 2025
A fast, physical Atkins side overwhelmed shorthanded Conway Christian and pulled away 38–0. The Red Devils opened with a 4th-and-goal rollout TD pass, then tailback Mason Martin broke loose for three long first-half scoring runs (including a 25-yard toss and a 53-yard misdirection) to make it 35–0 by halftime. With Arkansas’ sportsmanship rule in effect, the second-half clock ran; left-footed kicker Kenny Rivas added a 26-yard field goal late in the third for the final margin.

What decided it

  • Explosive plays. Martin’s burst flipped the game: Atkins scored two one-play TD drives.

  • Field position & flags. A coffin-corner punt and a 15-yard face-mask penalty set up short-field scores.

  • Special teams weapon. Rivas went perfect on PATs, drilled a late FG, and boomed kickoffs into corners.

Conway Christian notes

  • Injury crunch at QB. Starter Xander Stone (shoulder/groin) sat out; backup Isaiah Brister dressed only for defense (broken thumb). RB Caleb McKenna carried iron-man duty at QB, punter, and runner.

  • Best chance. Sophomore Carter Harrington sparked a fourth-quarter drive to first-and-goal, but Atkins held on 4th down.

  • Defensive bright spots. Bo Campbell, Landon Stove, Maddox Jones, and Max Dickinson produced open-field stops.

Atkins notes

  • Balance and pace. Senior QB Cole Crawford threw the opening TD and spread the ball; Goodall chipped in later.

  • Defense & special teams. The first-team defense still hasn’t allowed a point this season. Special teams repeatedly flipped the field.

Context & extras

  • Rematch feel. Conway Christian edged Atkins 27–24 last season after a missed late FG.

  • Theme night. The Eagles wore gold socks for Childhood Cancer Awareness Night.

  • Scheduling. Conway Christian has no game next week, then hosts Mountainburg for homecoming.

  • Historical note. The Eagles last suffered a shutout in the 2021 non-conference slate.
