Class 4A DeWITT (1-1) at No. 16 McGehee (1-1): McGehee led 32-6 in the first quarter en route to a 50-12 win over Star City. Senior all-conference RB Rashawn Brown and junior all-conference QB Ashton Humphries lead the Wing-T attack. DeWitt lost to 5A Jacksonville 28-20 last week; Korri Graham scored 2 TDs and junior Xa Cox threw a TD pass. DeWitt won last year’s matchup 22-21.   

1-3A

No. 3 CHARLESTON (2-0) at Heavener, Okla. (0-2): Charleston beat Class 4A Ozark 52-20, led by QB Carter Little (10-19, 198 passing; 3 TDs; 9-161 rushing, 2 TDs). Wideout Deegan Todd (3-89 receiving, 1 TD; 2-point conversion). Heavener lost last week to Panama (Okla.) 40-16. Charleston won this matchup last year 55-0.  

Greenland (0-2) at Class 4A GREEN FOREST (1-1): Greenland lost to Class 4A Berryville 38-14. QB Cooper Ridenoure (13-24 passing, 222 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) and wideout Zander Rankin (6-167 receiving, TD) led the offense. Green Forest was off last week, but 2 weeks ago it beat West Fork 28-6. Senior Gabe Serna led the Tigers’ rushing attack with 128 yards and 2 TDs;  junior LB Radon Lawrence had 5 tackles, 2 pass breakups, and 1 interception.  

West Fork (0-2) at Class 4A HUNTSVILLE (0-2): These are former conference rivals, with Huntsville winning 15 of 17 regular-season matchups from 1985-2001 (West Fork beat Huntsville 21-13 in the first round of the 1985 playoffs). They didn’t play again until Huntsville’s 2-point decision last season. Huntsville has lost its 2 games by a combined 77-7; West Fork has lost its 2 games 70-25. 

HACKETT (1-1) at Class 2A Mountainburg (2-0): Hackett lost last week to Class 4A Gentry 21-12, with Matt Garner (14-24 passing, 80 yards, TD; 6-112 rushing, TD; 3 tackles, INT.) playing a vital role. James Randolph led the defense with 9 tackles and 1 sack. Mountainburg beat Baptist Prep 27-25 last week. Hackett won last year’s matchup 47-0.

Class 2A Mineral Springs (0-2) at No. 20 QUITMAN (2-0): Quitman moved into the Top 20 after beating 2A Izard County 57-16 behind QB Jordon Moore-Payne (18-24 passing, 352 yards, 5 TDs; 3 rushing TDs. He has accounted for 12 TDs through 2 games. Mineral Springs has been outscored by a combined 112-0 in losses to No. 6 Bismarck and No. 2 Fordyce.

Yellville-Summit (0-2) at Class 4A BERRYVILLE (2-0): Yellville-Summit has won 7 of the past 10 meetings over Berryville, including 34-27 last fall. Berryville is 2-0 for the first time since 2015, when the Bobcats beat Decatur and West Fork in the first 2 games before losing the final 8. Berryville beat Greenland last week 38-14. Junior QB C.T. Hicks passed for 167 yards and ran for 2 TDs, while junior RB Jason Alvarado rushed 13 times for 151 yards and 2 TDs. Senior LB Kobe Garcia led the defense with 6.5 tackles, 1 sack and 2 forced fumbles.

Piggott (0-2) at MOUNTAIN VIEW (0-1): Piggott lost 54-0 to 2A Cross County last week 54-0. Noah Clemmons led the team with 27 rushing yards. Mountain View lost to Class 4A Berryville 40-28 in Week 1, yielding more than 600 total yards. 

EPISCOPAL (0-2) at Class 2A Baptist Prep (0-2): Both teams are searching for their first win. Episcopal lost 40-6 to Class 2A Spring Hill last week, and has been outscored by a combined 104-34 in 2 games. Baptist Prep has lost 2 games by a combined 8 points.

Class 4A Forrest City at No. 4 RIVERCREST (1-1): Forrest City did not play last week after losing 29-26 to Wynne 2 weeks ago. Senior Kevin Young (80 passing yards; 106 rushing, 2 TDs vs. Wynne) has switched from RB to QB this fall. Senior Roderick Tiswell ran for 95 yards and 1 TD. Rivercrest lost at Class 4A Gosnell by 10 points in the opener before beating Class 2A No. 1 EPC by 2 points last week. Rivercrest senior QB Jayden Young (119 passing, TD; 29-164 rushing; 34-yard TD catch)  and senior Buddah Harris (8-89 receiving, TD) led the offense.

Manila (0-2) at Class 2A EAST POINSETT COUNTY (1-1): Manila had a week off after losing to Class 2A Marked Tree 46-0. Senior QB Isaac Moore and senior all-conference wideout Hudson Harrison lead Manila. East Poinsett County remains the top-ranked 2A team after losing to No. 4 Rivercrest 48-46. EPC won last year’s matchup 32-13.

Jessieville (0-2)  at Class 4A HARMONY GROVE HASKELL (2-0): Jessieville lost to Class 2A Mount Ida 28-20 last week; Haskell ripped Rison 25-0, holding the Wildcats to 59 total yards. Haskell’s offensive line performed well. “They are being physical and getting off the ball,” Coach Josh Smith says. Junior OG/DL Barrett Nelson earned an 89 percent blocking grade at right guard last week, and an 81 percent grade at DT; Jay Noble ran for 156 yards and 2 TDs.

DANVILLE (1-1) at Class 2A Hector (2-0): Danville returns from a bye after beating JC Westside in Week 1. Jake Crane (15-124 rushing, TD; passing TD) and Gunner Wilkins (20-164 rushing, 3 TDs; 14 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 recovered fumbles, 2 forced fumbles) led the way. Hector has wins over Yellville-Summit and Perryville.

Class 2A HAMPTON (2-0) at Two Rivers (1-1): Two Rivers lost to Magazine 22-0 last week after ending its 26-game losing streak 2 weeks ago against Baptist Prep. Hampton has wins over Lafayette County and Foreman. 

OPEN Cutter M. Star (3-0), Magnet Cove (2-1), Perryville (1-2), Paris (2-1), No. 8 Glen Rose (2-1)

7-3A

No. 15 Prescott (1-1) at CLASS 5A HOPE (1-1): The Curley Wolves had a bye week last week after losing to No. 1 Salem 55-0 in Week 1. Prescott won this matchup last season 49-0.  Prescott was led by KJ Page (26-191 rushing) in its Week 0 win over Crossett.

CENTERPOINT (2-0) at Class 2A Spring Hill (1-1): Centerpoint (253 total yards) lost 41-14 to Class 4A Fountain Lake last Friday night. Chris Borgeson played well on both sides of the ball. Spring Hill beat Episcopal 40-6 last week.  

Class 2A LAFAYETTE COUNTY (0-2) at Horatio (0-2): Horatio lost to Class 2A Foreman last week 33-14; Lafayette County lost to Class 5A De Queen 56-28. Lafayette County won last year’s matchup 28-0. 

OPEN Parkers Chapel (0-3), Fouke (3-0), Harmony Grove Ouachita County (0-3), No. 10 Smackover (3-0), No. 6 Bismarck (2-1)

Class 4A DEWITT (1-1) at No. 16 McGehee (1-1): See comments above in Game of the Week.

Joe T. Robinson (JV) at No. 9 RISON (1-1): Rison lost to Class 4A Haskell Harmony Grove 35-0. Dalton Lee (19 tackles) and junior Cam Johnson (18 tackles) led the defense. Kyson Walker led the offense and was the leading rusher.

No. 13 Dumas (1-1) at Class 4A MONTICELLO (0-2): Sophomore QB Kyle Young (237 passing yards, 2 TDs; 1 rushing TD) and Rashard Moore (130 rushing, 1 TD) led Dumas on offense. Monticello lost to Fordyce (46-18) and at Bauxite (38-36) in the opening 2 weeks before last week’s open date. RB Joseph Accelus leads Monticello’s rushing attack; Offensive linemen Gunner Hale and Asher Lanehart continue playing well. Lanehart picked up an offer last week from the UA-Monticello.

LAKE VILLAGE (1-2) at Class 4A Star City (0-2): Lake Village beat Hall Steam a week ago 52-6 after leading 38-6 in the second quarter. The Beavers ran for 242 yards and 5 TDs; the defense forced 2 turnovers and blocked a punt. Star City sophomore QB Justin Holloway played well in last week’s 52-12 loss to McGehee. “We have to execute offensively and clean up mistakes,” Star City Coach Matt Garriott says. “We have to continue improving defensively, especially our tackling.”
