Mills 42, Blytheville 7

LITTLE ROCK — Mills turned a 6-0 halftime edge into a runaway, unloading 29 third‑quarter points to beat Blytheville 42-7. Coach Cortez Lee’s Comets dictated the pace after break, while Rod Stinson’s Chickasaws battled for field position and momentum.

Quarterback Kingston Burnett spread the ball around, tossing three touchdowns — a deep strike to wideout Chase Slater, a red‑zone dart to sophomore Maddox Parker, and an 80‑yard pop pass to receiver Ernest Haynes — as Mills mixed tempo and formations. Running back Za’Marion McDonald hammered in a short score and added a two‑point conversion, and receiver/defensive back Alan Hall flipped the game with a punt‑return touchdown.

Blytheville created chances in the first half. Quarterback Chad Bell connected with receiver Trevon Lewis on a down‑the‑sideline go route to flip the field, and the Chickasaws’ front held up repeatedly in the red zone before Mills’ surge. Running back/linebacker Courtney Rogers broke free for a touchdown to avert the shutout.

Mills’ defense was relentless. Middle linebacker Darrin Weston closed alleys from sideline to sideline, while tackle Jameson Parker and end Isaiah Chambers supplied pressure that put Blytheville behind the chains. Special teams covered kicks after halftime, complementing the offense’s burst.

Both teams left with building blocks: Mills’ balance and depth surfaced in the third quarter; Blytheville’s vertical game and tackling kept it close for two frames. With conference play looming, the Comets exit with a statement win; the Chickasaws depart with tape that shows explosive potential when they limit penalties and finish drives.
