Sylvan Hills 25, El Dorado 10
EL DORADO — Sylvan Hills leaned on a bruising ground game and timely defense to spoil El Dorado’s homecoming, 25–10, on Friday at First Financial Field. Junior RB Isaiah Howell powered the Bears with three rushing touchdowns—one in the second quarter and two in a 12-point third that flipped a 7–7 halftime tie. QB Tyler Hampton added a strike to WR Ryan Parham, and the Bears’ offensive line wore down the Wildcats after halftime.
El Dorado answered Howell’s opener with a short TD by RB Bretaveon Brown late in the second, then moved the ball behind QB Cannon Jacobs’ keepers and perimeter touches for RB Jeremy Samuel and WR Jackson Pagan. But Sylvan Hills’ defense bowed up in the red zone, forcing a fourth‑quarter field goal and sealing matters when CB Nigel Casey intercepted a deep ball after a penalty wiped out a long Wildcat gain. LB Marcus Heard added a drive‑killing sack as the Bears’ front bottled the run.
RB EJ Duckery churned out chunk gains to flip field position on consecutive series, helping ignite a 19–0 burst out of the break. Special teams mattered, too: Sylvan Hills pounced on two onside kicks, and the Wildcats blocked one PAT before the Bears pulled away. Punter Caden Burnett repeatedly flipped the field for Sylvan Hills, while El Dorado’s front—anchored by DT Robert Smith—answered with stops that kept it tight until late.
