Washington, Davis Power Osceola Past Drew Central in 49-21 Rout

MONTICELLO – Osceola rode a dominant ground game and a wave of takeaways to roll past Drew Central 49-21 in the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs Friday night.

Senior all-purpose standout Maurice “MJ” Washington set the tone early, punching in a 2-yard keeper after the Seminoles stuffed the Pirates on fourth-and-1 to open the game. Drew Central answered immediately when senior Tra’Bennett Fuller broke loose on a 14-yard scoring run, but from there Osceola seized control.

Behind a physical offensive line, Washington kept the chains moving with designed runs and scrambles, adding three more short touchdown runs before halftime. He also dropped a perfect 14-yard corner route to senior receiver Tyler Bell late in the second quarter, sending the Seminoles to the locker room with a 35-7 lead.

Osceola’s defense was just as active. Two-way standout Khamajh Poole and lineman Diesel Freeman helped force multiple fumbles, while Garrison Cook knifed in for a huge fourth-down stop. Freshman defensive back Kylin Perez added an interception and a fumble recovery as the Seminoles consistently flipped field position.

True freshman running back Adrian Davis slammed the door out of halftime, bursting for touchdown runs of 29 and 10 yards to push the margin to 49-7 and trigger the mercy rule.

Drew Central kept battling, with Fuller connecting on second-half touchdown passes to receivers Blake Chandler and Zae’vion Bullard and Chandler continuing to flash on kickoff returns, but Osceola’s early surge held up as the Seminoles advanced.
