CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Saturday, 12:00 p.m., War Memorial Stadium
1-3A (1) No. 1 MANSFIELD (13-0) vs. 8-3A (1) No. 2 Fordyce (13-1):
Mansfield heads to the state championship game for the first time, authoritatively punching its ticket with a 48-22 win over defending state champion Salem, 48-22. Andrew Burton accounted for 5 touchdowns, helping flip the script from the 2024 loss to Salem. The Tigers have scored 571 points, and are averaging more than 46.0 points per game in 9 of their 13 wins.
Fordyce keeps doing what Fordyce does. The Redbugs are back in the state championship for the first time since 2021, when they fell to McCrory in the 2A final. They grinded out an 18-13 win over Booneville last Friday. Fordyce has won 7 consecutive after falling to Lakeside Lake Village earlier in the year.
Mansfield, aiming for its first state title, has knocked out both teams that played for the championship last year. Fordyce hunts for its ninth title, its first since 2020.
