Class 5A HARRISON (1-1) at No. 12 Highland (2-0):
This is the first meeting between these teams, although Highland played Harrison’s junior varsity in 1974. Highland beat Heber Springs in a wild shootout (50-49) 2 weeks ago and took down previously unbeaten Class 5A Greene County Tech by 20 points a week ago. Senior QB Austin Christy passed for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns vs. GCT. Senior Jimmy Jensen (7-81-2 receiving), while Lexxon Johnson ran for 98 yards. Highland’s defense had a complete turnaround against GCT, allowing 3 points after giving up 7 TDs against Heber Springs. Reymond Demison led the defense with 9 tackles, including 3 tackles for loss. Mason Sinclair also added 9 stops and Hayden Hyslip intercepted 1 pass. Harrison lost to rival Mountain Home 2 weeks ago 28-7, gaining 86 total yards and throwing 2 interceptions. “It’ll take a total team effort to beat them,” Highland Coach Sterling Stowers says.

No. 2 ELKINS (2-0) at Class 3A Mansfield (1-2): These teams were conference foes in 2004-2005 and again from 2008-2009, and played a nonconference game in 2020 (Elkins won 62-6). Elkins has started the season with wins over Class 5A opponents Pea Ridge and Dardanelle. Junior RB Josh Hamm (13-135-3 TDs) and senior QB Austin Born (11-77-1 TD) paced the Elkins ground attack 2 weeks ago in a 14-point victory over Dardanelle.
No. 10 GRAVETTE (2-0) at Grove, Okla., (1-1): Grove lost at Poteau, Okla., last week by 1 point in overtime. Gravette has wins over Adair, Okla., and Thayer, Mo., by a combined 97-26. Senior JD Beem ran for 147 yards and 1 TD two weeks ago in a 45-8 win over Thayer, Mo., while QB Hudson Harris threw 2 TDs.
BERRYVILLE (1-1) at Class 3A Cedarville (3-0): Cedarville beat Berryville in nonconference games in 2020 and 2021. Undefeated Cedarville yields just 7 ppg. Berryville lost a shootout at Dover last week 55-48. The Bobcats gave up almost 500 yards rushing. Senior QB CT Hicks accounted for more than 250 yards and 3 TD in the loss.
Class 3A Marshall (0-2) at GREEN FOREST (2-0): Green Forest outlasted Mountain View 21-20 in overtime last week. Ywa Hay Moo ran for 131 yards and 2 TDs, while the defense was paced with key interceptions from Jayston Miles and Talon Whetham. Abisai Reyes kicked the winning PAT in overtime.

Class 3A CHARLESTON (0-3) at Clinton (0-2): This is a surprising battle of winning programs that are winless so far. These teams haven’t played each other since the first round of the 2018 playoffs, with Charleston winning 49-0. But Charleston has been outscored 105-14 by Pottsville and Ozark over the past 2 weeks. Clinton has lost its 2 games to Forrest City and Lamar by a combined 86-28.
POTTSVILLE (2-0) at HG Haskell (0-2): These teams split close games when conference foes in 2022 (Pottsville won 22-21) and 2023 (HG Haskell won 28-21). HG Haskell’s fourth-down run in the final seconds last week came up inches shy of the end zone in a 7-point setback to Malvern. Pottsville beat Charleston 48-7 two weeks ago, led by Penn Helton (3-107 rushing, 2 TDs). HG Haskell junior Ace Garcia ran for 122 yards and 1 TD, while sophomore QB Cash Potter threw a TD pass to sophomore Korbyn Bradley. Senior LB Noah Bennett (9 tackles, 1 forced fumble) led a defense that forced 3 turnovers.
CAC (2-0) at Class 2A Dierks (3-0): This is the first meeting between these teams. Dierks’ Maclane Smith ran for 210 yards and 4 TDs last year to help the Outlaws notch a 55-34 win over Fouke. CAC junior QB Jackson Plumlee passed for 121 yards and 2 TDs, and ran for 115 yards and 1 TD in last week’s 35-21 victory at Mena. Eli Cash led CAC’s ground attack (221 yards, 1 TD), while Brody Vantiborg ran for 114 yards and 1 TD.

Class 5A HARRISON (1-1) at Highland (2-0): See Game of the Week, above.
Class 5A MILLS (2-0) at Blytheville (0-2): Mills has won 6 in a row over Blytheville (conference foes from 1998-2001), including 42-7 last fall. Mills junior QB Kenneth Gilcreast, Jr., passed for 219 yards and 3 TDs and ran for 1 TD in last week’s 48-27 win over Monticello. Blytheville has been outscored 77-0 this season in losses to Osceola and Nettleton.
Class 5A PARAGOULD (1-1) at Trumann (0-2): Paragould coach Randy Phillips coached Trumann from 2020-2022. Trumann has won 5 consecutive games over Paragould by an average of 37-10, and 8 of the past 10 in the series. But the Wildcats are winless this fall after losing to Walnut Ridge and Harrisburg the past 2 weeks by a combined 50-6. Trumann played solid defense (gave up just 200 yards) in last week’s 12-0 loss to Harrisburg. Paragould lost 54-43 last week at Rivercrest after turning the ball over 4 times.
Class 3A Rivercrest (2-0) at FORREST CITY (2-0): These teams meet for the third consecutive season (Rivercrest won 48-34 in 2024, Forrest City won 58-56 last year). Rivercrest led Class 5A Paragould 36-14 in the third quarter last week before holding on to win 54-43. Senior QB Jayden Ralph passed for 213 yards and 1 TD and ran for 1 TD against Paragould, while Lexx Latham ran for 109 yards and 2 TDs. The Colts’ defense forced 4 turnovers, including a fumble that junior Ashton Harris returned for a TD.

Class 3A GREENLAND (2-1) at Subiaco Academy (0-2): These teams were conference foes in 2002-2003, with Greenland winning both of those games. Greenland held off Yellville-Summit 28-26 a week ago. Junior QB Kyle Farquharson ran for 152 yards and 4 TDs, while sophomore EJ Johnson added 112 yards. Subiaco Academy has lost to Perryville and Lavaca the past 2 weeks by a combined 88-14.

Ashdown (0-2) at Class 5A DE QUEEN (1-1): These teams were conference rivals from 2000-2011, and continued the nonconference series from 2012-2023. Ashdown has 13 consecutive wins over De Queen, with the past 4 by a combined margin of 164-7. Ashdown has lost its 2 games this fall at Atlanta, Texas, and to Prescott by a total of 78-14. The Panthers gave up 241 yards rushing and 5 TDs 2 weeks ago against Prescott. De Queen broke a 7-game losing streak with last week’s 35-13 win vs. Hope.

CROSSETT (1-1) at Class 3A Lake Village (1-2): These teams were in the 8-4A in 2012-2013, with Crossett winning those games by a combined 90-14. Crossett has won 8 of the past 9 times they’ve played in the modern playoff era (began in 1969). Crossett lost to Dumas 44-40 a week ago, despite a big night from sophomore WR Kaevon Scoby (5-114-3 TDs). Senior LB Chase Carpenter had 11.5 tackles and 2 pass breakups.
STAR CITY (2-0) at Class 2A Cross County (1-1): This game was scheduled after Barton announced it would try to play an 8-man schedule because of low numbers and dropped both teams less than 48 hours before the season kicked off. Star City rallied in the second half last week for a 39-28 victory over Drew Central. Senior RB Parker Winn (23-145-1 TD) and senior slotback Ky Griffith (8-47-1 rushing; 1 kickoff return for TD) were key weapons for the Bulldogs, while junior lineman Cedric Scruggs earned an 89 percent blocking grade and was credited by coaches with 6 championship blocks. Sophomore LB Fernando Palmerin made 23 tackles, forced and recovered 2 fumbles and blocked a punt for a safety. Sophomore LB Tristan Taylor added 20 tackles, while sophomore DL Jamir Vargas added 8 stops.
