No. 2 SEARCY (2-0) at Class 5A Greenbrier (2-0): Class 5A Greenbrier won the last meeting between these schools 42-21 in the opening round of the 2023 Class 5A state playoffs. Searcy took its bye last week after vanquishing Valley View 56-20 in Week 1. The Lions led 14-7 after the first quarter, 35-20 at halftime, and 56-20 to open the fourth quarter. Lions quarterback Jacob Miles completed 12 of 21 passes for 358 yards and 4 touchdowns, while DeAndre Shockley (13-72-3 rushing) led the ground attack. Receiver Jackson Smith caught 3 passes against Valley View, covering 206 yards, and scoring on every reception. Will Manning collected 5 passes for 104 yards and a score. Searcy averages more than 55 points per game after two contests so far this season, and the explosive Lions should find enough points again this week.
6A EAST
No. 1 BENTON (1-1) at Class 5A Joe T. Robinson (2-0): This is the first meeting of these schools. Benton bolted out to a 41-20 lead last Friday night against Class 5A power Hot Springs Lakeside, but surrendered the final 22 points, including a touchdown with 6 seconds left, followed by a 2-point conversion to drop a heartbreaking 42-41 decision. The Panthers led 14-0 after a quarter, but it was 14-13 at halftime and 27-20 at the start of the fourth quarter. Benton surrendered 479 yards (281 passing, 198 rushing) to Lakeside. The Panthers continue to get good play from quarterback Chase Cobb and all-conference offensive lineman Maddison Heard, as well as all-conference linebacker Weston Monson.

No. 9 LR Catholic (1-1) at Class 7A CABOT (0-2): Class 7A Cabot has won the last two meetings with Little Rock Catholic, but the last meeting was a 44-21 decision in 2021. Little Rock Catholic jumped John Paul II 21-7 after a quarter 2 weeks ago and pulled away to a 50-13 victory in Frisco, Texas. The Rockets rushed 38 times for 286 yards (7.6 yards per carry) and 6 touchdowns, led by QB Phillips Blair’s 109 rushing yards with 2 TDs, and 61 yards and 3 scores from 2-way starter Luke Burdine. Little Rock Catholic impressed in all 3 phases in Texas two weeks ago, but Cabot wins a close one.
Class 5A ARKANSAS HIGH TEXARKANA (0-2) at NR Siloam Springs (0-2): Texarkana has won 2 of the 3 meetings in this series, including 37-0 in Week 9, 2017. Siloam Springs led Class 5A Pea Ridge 17-14 at halftime last week, but managed only 7 points after halftime in a 33-24 defeat. The Panthers got a 1-yard TD run from Izael Beleche, a 24-yard TD run from Wyatt Ramsey, and a 72-yard TD pass from sophomore QB Cooper Hahn in the defeat. Siloam Springs is getting more comfortable in its new triple-option shotgun attack, amassing almost 300 yards a week ago, but Texarkana has too much on both sides of the ball.
