CLASS 6A GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 8 JONESBORO (3-3, 2-1) at No. 7 Marion (4-2, 2-1)
Jonesboro leads the all-time series 10-7, but Marion has won 5 of the past 6 meetings, including 51-30 in 2024. It’s Homecoming at Marion, and it features 2 of the 5 teams tied atop the 6A East standings with 2-1 conference marks.
Marion survived an upset bid from county rival West Memphis last week, winning 28-25 victory behind touchdowns from senior twins Kajeris and Kejeris Hill, a short Jeremiah Dent score, and an electrifying 90-yard interception return from senior cornerback R.L. Johnson. Senior defensive stalwarts Zadean Wilson (4 tackles for loss) and Ryan Blackwell (3 TFL) anchored the Marion defense. Marion junior kicker Brody Wasion was 4 for 4 on extra points; West Memphis converted 1 PAT.
Jonesboro’s 31-14 win over Little Rock Catholic was its second consecutive conference win. Senior QB Asa Myers (137 yards passing; 186 rushing yards, 3 TDs) led the offense. K’Den Hawkins rushed for 75 yards and a TD. The Golden Hurricane rushed for 310 yards as a team, averaging 6.7 yards per carry. Kamari Fisher (7-47) and Jaylen Heard (4-65) led the receivers.. Noah Wendel and Kylan Dixon led the defense with 8 tackles apiece.
Marion has lost 4 of its past 5 home games, and Jonesboro adds on this week to spoil Homecoming.

6A EAST
No. 5 BENTON (4-2, 2-1) at No. 6 El Dorado (4-2, 2-1): Benton is 13-12 in the past 25 meetings with El Dorado, including its fifth consecutive win — 56-31 victory last year. These are 2 of the 5 teams with 2-1 records atop the 6A East. El Dorado’s 4-game winning streak ended with last week’s 25-10 home loss to Sylvan Hills. The Bears recovered 2 onside kicks at El Dorado, helping Sylvan Hills build a 25-7 lead in the fourth quarter. El Dorado’s Brevation Brown scored on a 4-yard run, and Eric Flores added a 36-yard field goal to cap the scoring for the Wildcats. TB Jeremy Samuel rushed for 31 yards; QB Cannon Jacobs completed 3 of 10 passes for 92 yards. The El Dorado defense held Sylvan Hills to its lowest point total of the season. Benton beat Sheridan 87-42, posting the second-high points total in the program’s history. Two-time all-state QB Drew Davis completed 26 of 36 passes for 435 yards and 8 TDs; Will Carter (11-193, 4 TDs) and Karson Collatt (7-116, 2 TDs) were Davis’ top targets. Carter and Collatt had missed considerable time earlier this season, but seem to be back healthy. Benton led 45-28 after the first quarter, 66-28 at halftime, and 80-28 after three quarters. The winner of this game remains in a tie atop the conference, and it seems like Benton is getting healthy and playing with more confidence at the right time to make a run at a third straight 6A East title.
SHERIDAN (2-4, 1-2) at LR Catholic (2-4, 1-2): Little Rock Catholic has won 3 straight games against Sheridan, including 51-48 last fall. Catholic trailed Jonesboro 3-0 after a quarter and 10-7 at halftime last week, but Jonesboro scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter to pull away. The Rockets led 7-3 in the second quarter after an 8-yard Philips Blair TD run. Sheridan competed most of the first half last week against Benton, scoring 28 first-quarter points, but did not score again until the fourth quarter of an 87-42 defeat. The Yellowjackets led 22-17 after a TD pass from Easton Barksdale to Hunter Socia. Sheridan also got an 80-yard TD run from Zay Stephens, a TD pass from Barksdale to Dylan Smith, and a passing TD from Barksdale to McCurry Meyer in the fourth quarter. Sheridan’s underrated running game takes advantage of a vulnerable Catholic rush defense to win a game crucial for teams aspiring to make the playoffs.
No. 8 JONESBORO (3-3, 2-1) at No. 7 Marion (4-2, 2-1): See Class 6A Game of the Week, above.
West Memphis (0-6, 0-3) at No. 4 SYLVAN HILLS (5-1, 2-1): West Memphis leads the all-time series 7-5, including 3 consecutive wins and 13-10 in 2024. West Memphis turned in its best effort of the season last week in a 28-25 home loss to Marion. The Blue Devils led 19-14 early in the third period after a 50-yard Carlos Williams touchdown run, and West Memphis got inside the Marion 30 late in the fourth quarter with a chance to take the lead with a touchdown. West Memphis, which forced 3 Marion turnovers, got 2 TDs from Williams, a 52-yard interception return for touchdown from Malik Cummings, and a 51-yard TD toss from sophomore QB Andrew Clay to Kevius Woods. Sylvan Hills took the lead for good at 13-7 midway through the third quarter before pushing ahead 25-7 in the fourth quarter at El Dorado. Sylvan Hills QB Tyler Hampton completed 20 of 34 passes at El Dorado for 229 yards and a TD to Ryan Parham (5-83). Tyler Blakely also caught 5 passes for 83 yards. Isaiah Howell (15-160 rushing, 3 TDs) and E.J. Duckery (18-98) led the Bears’ rushing game. Sylvan Hills has more total yards through 6 games than it has had total in 7 of the past 10 seasons. West Memphis has averaged more than 24 points per game over the past 3 weeks since Clay returned to the lineup; Sylvan Hills must win if the Bears want to remain in pursuit of their first league title since 2020.
6A WEST
No. 1 GREENWOOD (6-0, 3-0) at Lake Hamilton (2-4, 1-2): Greenwood has won 10 in a row over Lake Hamilton, including 49-14 last fall. Lake Hamilton trailed Van Buren 20-0 last week at halftime before falling 36-7. The Wolves rushed for 123 yards on 36 carries at Van Buren. Halfback Coy Autrey ran for 57 yards and a TD; sophomore QB Jace Bohannon completed 14 of 28 passes for 169 yards. Sophomore Blaine Sears (13 tackles)and Jordan Amos (7 tackles) led on defense. Greenwood beat Siloam Springs 42-0 last week, its 32nd consecutive win overall and its 73rd win in a row at home. The Bulldogs led 21-0 after a quarter and 35-0 at halftime to trigger the Arkansas Sportsmanship Rule for the second half. QB Kane Archer (19-21 passing, 225 yards; 7-85 rushing, 4 TDs). Eight Bulldogs caught passes against Siloam Springs, with senior Benton Hossley (4-114) leading the way. Tailback Wesley Raggio rushed 8 times for 66 yards and 2 scores. Drew Dickinson (9 tackles against Siloam Springs), and Lawyer Thornsberry (6 stops) highlighted the defensive effort.
Lake Hamilton needs to find a conference victory soon to remain in the playoff hunt, but topping a rolling Greenwood this week feels like too tall a task.
No. 2 SHILOH CHRISTIAN (4-2, 2-1) at Russellville (0-6, 0-3): Shiloh Christian won 46-21 last fall in the first meeting between the schools. Russellville allowed 36 second-quarter points last week en route to a 43-0 defeat at Mountain Home. Russellville, playing without 5 starters on offense, totaled 49 yards. Mountain Home won the turnover battle 2-0, but Russellville did not allow a point in the first, and third quarters. The Cyclones won time of possession 27:53-20:07. Shiloh Christian scored twice late in the first half, and on 4 consecutive second-half possessions last week to pull away from FS Southside 52-24. The Saints were led by QB Cole Creighton (18-30 passing, 305 yards, 4 TDs). Zane Sluyter (7-183, TD) was Creighton’s stop target. Sluyter finished with 276 all-purpose yards. Max Eldridge rushed for 91 yards on 21 carries and 3 TDs. Injuries have ravaged Russellville so far in 2025, and it doesn’t help this week against a surging Shiloh Christian outfit
No. 3 MOUNTAIN HOME (5-1, 2-1) at Siloam Springs (2-4, 0-3): Mountain Home is 5-0 all-time against Siloam Springs, including a 37-15 win last year. Mountain Home led Russellville 36-0 at halftime last week in its 43-0 victory. Mountain Home’s shutout was its first since topping Lake Hamilton 36-0 a year ago. The Bombers rushed for more than 250 yards, including 172 yards and 2 TDs from Barrett Miller; QB Brantlee Phillips completed 4 of 9 passes for 40 yards and 2 more scores. Connor Schulz (55 rushing) and Phillips (19) added to the ground game. Miller (3-35 receiving, TD) and Carter Adkins (TD reception) caught passes from Phillips. Siloam Springs needs a conference victory or 2 to remain in playoff contention, but these Bombers are rolling right now, rushing for almost 300 yards per week and showing an improving passing game.
No. 10 FS Southside (4-2, 1-2) at No. 9 VAN BUREN (4-2, 3-0): Fort Smith Southside has beaten Van Buren 8 of the past 9 meetings, but the Pointers won 42-28 last fall. Fort Smith Southside competed well last week, leading second-ranked Shiloh Christian 10-8 in the first period before falling 52-24. Senior playmaker Peyton Zimmerman (11-124 receiving, TD) was a big part of the offense. Wilson Key started in place of injured Blake Forsgren at QB and completed 2 TD passes. Colton Viengthong also ran for a score. Forsgren’s status for this game is questionable. Van Buren is 3-0 in conference for the first time since 1999 after last week’s 36-7 victory over Lake Hamilton. The Pointers led 30-0 in the third period and Van Buren outgained Lake Hamilton 475-363. Junior QB Hayden Williford completed 17 of 22 passes against the Wolves for 284 yards and 3 TDs; sophomore tailback Hayden Christenberry ran 23 times for 96 yards and another score. Senior Austin Riggs (8-149 receiving, 2 TDs) and Carter Kelley (3-33, TD) were the top receivers. Van Buren senior safety Darren Mays finished with 13 tackles against Lake Hamilton, while Jaxson Silvers recorded 10 stops and 2 tackles for loss.
