Comets Cruise on Homecoming, Defense and Specials Spark Rout

LITTLE ROCK — Mills overwhelmed Hall 49–0 on homecoming Friday at Comet Stadium, scoring four first‑quarter touchdowns and never looking back. Sophomore quarterback Elijah Moody opened with a one‑yard keeper, then steered a crisp attack that featured running backs Za’marion McDonald and freshman Jasir Lockridge on short plunges. Moody later found wideout Chase Slater for a red‑zone strike as the Comets built a 28–0 cushion.
Mills’ defense and special teams did the rest. Linebacker Daelan Coleman fell on a blocked punt in the end zone, and junior Alan Hall — “Bug” — added a 46‑yard punt‑return touchdown. Moody also hit receiver Jaiden Hicks on a touch‑pass jet sweep that turned the corner behind Kentrell Mason’s lead block. Kicker Ricardo Gaytan was perfect on all seven PATs.
Hall battled with spirited snaps from senior return man Khris Dennis and sturdy work up front by lineman Deondre Holmes, while Isaiah White and Ameer Hinnant helped stabilize drives before Mills’ front closed lanes. The Warriors’ quarterback/punter absorbed pressure and flipped field position several times, but Mills consistently won first down, forcing long‑yardage situations and punts.
With the win, Mills strengthened its 4A playoff posture while posting a second straight shutout. The Comets controlled the line of scrimmage, spread the ball among playmakers, and kept penalties limited in a poised, methodical performance that delighted a packed homecoming crowd. Backup QB Kingston Burnett also managed the huddle effectively during second‑quarter snaps, maintaining tempo and ball security as Mills rotated personnel and depth.
