MAUMELLE — Ashyr Crow and Cayden Adams helped Greenbrier erase a 14-point halftime deficit, and Tyler Hart’s late touchdown pass to Crow secured a 35-21 road victory over Maumelle on Friday, Oct. 30.

The Panthers (4-5, 2-4) scored on their first three possessions of the second half, using a two-back attack and a recovered onside kick to turn a 14-0 deficit into a 20-14 lead before the fourth quarter.

Hart started the comeback with a touchdown run, following his blocker and breaking a tackle. Ethan Rhodes’ extra point went through despite being deflected, cutting Maumelle’s lead to 14-7 with 8:03 left in the third quarter.

Crow then stopped a third-down screen pass behind the line, forcing a punt. With Easton Jutze at quarterback, Greenbrier moved downfield on a sideline completion to Joel Assan. Adams followed with a run to the 5 and scored on the next play. Rhodes’ kick tied the game at 14 with 3:51 remaining in the quarter.

Greenbrier recovered the ensuing onside kick and overcame holding and false-start penalties on its next possession. Adams took a handoff to the right, cut inside and accelerated into the end zone. The extra point was blocked, leaving the Panthers ahead 20-14 with two minutes left in the third.

A fourth-down stop gave Greenbrier possession at its own 24 with 8:35 remaining. On the next play, Crow broke through the left side and raced to the end zone. After a holding penalty erased the initial two-point attempt, Adams converted from the 13, extending the lead to 28-14 with 8:22 left.

Maumelle (2-7, 1-5) answered with Levi Warrior’s 20-yard touchdown pass and an extra point to pull within 28-21 with 4:18 remaining. The Hornets’ onside kick went out of bounds after touching a Panther, giving Greenbrier possession.

Facing third-and-long, Hart faked a handoff, rolled right and threw back to Crow on the left. Crow raced away for the clinching touchdown with 2:15 remaining. Greenbrier then stopped Maumelle’s final possession with a fourth-down sack and ran out the clock.
