Mackey throws four touchdowns as West defeats Cabot

CENTERTON — Sutton Mackey threw four touchdown passes, and Bentonville West scored 45 unanswered points to defeat Cabot 45-7 Friday at Wolverine Stadium.
Cabot opened with a 14-play, 65-yard touchdown drive that consumed 6:42. Bryce Moore extended the possession with a 28-yard run on a fake punt. Tyce Fletcher finished it with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Cannon Moore.
Mackey answered with a 51-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Adjam on fourth-and-eight. VJ Warren’s 59-yard run on West’s next possession set up Ethan Robinson’s 23-yard field goal for a 10-7 lead.
Cabot’s Jayden Terry stopped Warren at the 1 on fourth-and-goal in the second quarter. West later extended its lead when Mackey found Adjam for a 33-yard touchdown on fourth-and-two with 41 seconds before halftime.
Bryce Bridges recovered Cabot’s onside kick to open the second half. Five plays later, Ty Ross caught Mackey’s 27-yard touchdown pass for a 24-7 lead with 9:54 remaining in the third quarter.
Cannon Moore converted third-and-12 with a 23-yard reception on Cabot’s next possession. West linebacker Miller Reynolds subsequently forced a fumble, and Brison Johnson recovered. Warren finished the ensuing possession with a 49-yard touchdown run.
Ross added a 28-yard touchdown reception with 3:36 left in the third, increasing West’s lead to 38-7. Ross finished with four catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns.
West’s Dane Renick and Cabot’s Kainen Merritt intercepted passes on consecutive plays later in the quarter.
Jacob Paulk capped an 11-play, 75-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Parker Reed on fourth-and-goal with 5:52 remaining. The Wolverines scored three touchdowns on fourth down and improved to 2-0.
West’s defense stopped Cabot on fourth down on its final possession, and the Wolverines kept the ball until time expired. Warren finished with over 100 rushing yards, including his 49-yard touchdown and an earlier 59-yard run.
