Smackover rushes for seven touchdowns in victory over Junction City

SMACKOVER — Smackover rushed for 350 yards and seven touchdowns on 33 carries Saturday in a 55–12 victory over Junction City at Buckaroo Stadium.
Quarterback Trason Parlor carried eight times for 105 yards and a touchdown while completing two of three passes for 60 yards and another score. Madison McElroy added 106 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.
The Buckaroos stopped Junction City on fourth down to open the game, then covered 42 yards in three plays. A completion to the 3 set up the opening touchdown with 8:31 left in the first quarter.
Another fourth-down stop gave Smackover possession at its 10. Parlor finished that drive with a 46-yard touchdown scramble at 11:40 of the second quarter. A successful two-point run made it 14–0.
An interception set up a 27-yard touchdown pass to Branton Nugent and another conversion for a 22–0 lead. Defensive end Carter Walker’s blocked punt created the next scoring opportunity, and Smackover reached 29–0 with 8:30 remaining before halftime.
Junction City answered with sophomore quarterback Reagan Williams directing a touchdown drive. Nemo Caldwell gained about 12 yards, and Zamundrae Gray’s run moved the Dragons to the 3. Williams connected with Caldwell for a 5-yard touchdown at 5:59.
Senior Payton Teasley’s short touchdown run helped give Smackover a 36–6 halftime lead.
The Buckaroos scored on their opening second-half possession, extending the margin to 42–6. Gray answered with a 68-yard touchdown run off a pitch with 7:08 left in the third quarter.
Smackover responded with a 65-yard touchdown run on third-and-one, making it 48–12 with 1:21 remaining in the quarter. Another touchdown and extra point produced the final score.
Smackover’s defense recorded four sacks. Walker finished with four tackles, a sack for a 9-yard loss and the blocked punt. Smackover improved to 2–0; Junction City is 1–1.
