Shiloh Christian Pulls Away for First 7A Conference Victory

ROGERS — Shiloh Christian forced six turnovers and scored the final 27 points Friday night, defeating Rogers 47–17 at Whitey Smith Stadium in the Saints’ first 7A conference game.

Rogers pulled within 20–17 early in the third quarter before Shiloh scored three touchdowns in a 3:39 stretch. The Saints improved to 4–0 overall and 1–0 in the 7A West.

Charlie Kroell rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries. Max Eldridge added 78 yards and two scores on 13 attempts, while Cole Creighton completed 15 of 24 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns.

Shiloh collected takeaways on Rogers’ first three possessions. Eldridge recovered a backward pass near midfield to set up his 6-yard touchdown run with 7:31 left in the first quarter. Trevor Durham blocked the extra point, keeping the score 6–0.

The Saints later recovered a fumble in their end zone after Rogers reached the 4-yard line. Shiloh converted that takeaway into an 80-yard scoring drive, capped by Creighton’s 34-yard touchdown pass to Landon Sabatini with 50 seconds remaining in the quarter.

Rogers answered on the opening play of the second quarter. AJ Francisco completed a screen to Cooper McIntosh, who crossed the field and outran the pursuit for a 76-yard touchdown. Shiloh responded with another 80-yard drive, ending with Silas Nantze’s 57-yard touchdown reception after he bobbled the ball and secured it again.

Juan Chaparro’s 39-yard field goal cut the margin to 20–10. Rogers then defended a fake field-goal pass near its goal line, keeping that score intact at halftime.

The Mounties forced a three-and-out to open the second half, then scored on Jagger Blockburger’s 22-yard keeper. Chaparro’s extra point made it 20–17 with 9:27 remaining in the third quarter.

Shiloh recovered the ensuing onside kick and answered. Brody Haymond made a twisting sideline catch near midfield, and Kroell converted a third down with a run to the Rogers 22. Eldridge finished the possession with a 1-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal, taking a direct snap behind a formation that added McAllister Kimbrow as a blocker. The Saints led 27–17 with 6:16 left.

Tate Barnard’s interception set up the next score. Creighton found Cohen Beach deep to put Shiloh near the goal line, and Kroell scored on a short run. Corbin Miller then intercepted Francisco and returned it for a touchdown, stretching the lead to 41–17 with 2:37 remaining. Barnard added another interception on the final play of the quarter.

Rogers recovered a fumble at the Shiloh 10 early in the fourth, but the Saints stopped Blockburger on fourth-and-goal from the 2. Kroell immediately broke a run out to the 29, starting a drive that consumed nearly seven minutes. Barnard converted third-and-long with a catch during the possession, and Kroell finished it with a 3-yard touchdown at the 2:04 mark.

Beach finished with six catches for 90 yards. Barnard caught three passes for 44 yards in addition to his two third-quarter interceptions.
