CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
No. 2 Russellville vs. No. 1 Greenwood

Russellville blasted Benton 45-15 last week, while Greenwood got past Pine Bluff 31-30.
Greenwood junior quarterback and Arkansas commit Connor Noland (139-207 for 1,886 yards, 16 touchdowns, two interceptions) left the game with an injury in the second quarter. Senior Luke Hales completed eight of 16 passes for 101 yards, and ran for 95 yards two TDs. Hales hadn't thrown a pass in a game since late October, due to an arm injury. Both QBs are expected to play on Saturday, Greenwood coach Rick Jones says.
Greenwood’s offensive line is anchored by red-headed junior Jon Womack (6-1, 280), who also plays noseguard and senior left tackle Parker Didier (6-3, 270). Both have a chance to play college football.
Russellville plays for its first state title. In Coach Billy Dawson's second year, Russellville jumped from a 5-7 record in 2015. Dawson won three state titles at Nashville.
Greenwood looks for its eighth state title (2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2012) in 17 years. The Bulldogs also also advanced to the finals in 1996, 2004 and 2015. Jones is 138-22 at Greenwood since 2004.
Greenwood beat Russellville 27-24 Week 6 after leading 21-3 at halftime and 27-10 in the fourth quarter. Russellville posted 308 yards of offense after halftime. Greenwood out-rushed Russellville 282-175, and also out-gained the Cyclones 458-431.
Greenwood will start the same lineup Saturday as it did in its season opener.
Russellville’s talented defensive front has helped the Cyclones surrender only 130 yards rushing weekly. Greenwood runs for 230 yards weekly.
Russellville scored 29 points per game the first five weeks, but has jumped to 39 since. QB Cale Fulsom (215-327 for 2,582 yards, 24 TDs and seven INTs) targets Caleb Stokes (68 catches, 950 yards, 10 TDs) at receiver.
Greenwood is known to get leads early, so Russellville must handle the opening moments of its first title game.
Both teams have excellent defensive lines, but Russellville may have the advantage at the skill positions, especially at wide receiver.
Greenwood sophomore kicker Grant Ennis is five of six this season, including a 41-yard make, while Russellville’s Nate Turner, a senior, was nine of 12 with a long of 38.
