CONWAY - The University of Central Arkansas football coaching staff added 16 recruits on Wednesday, the first day of the National Signing period, giving head coach Steve Campbell and his staff 24 newcomers to the Bears program.

The 16 newcomers join a group of eight mid-year transfers already enrolled at UCA.

The across-the-board signing class includes seven linebackers, four wide receivers, four defensive linemen, two tight ends, two quarterbacks, two offensive linemen, two defensive backs and one placekicker. The state-by-state breakdown has seven from Texas; six from Arkansas; four from Kansas; two from Mississippi; two from Alabama; one each from Florida, South Carolina and Oklahoma.

The Bears open the 2015 season with road games at Samford University on Sept. 3 in Birmingham, Ala., then travel Sept. 12 to Stillwater, Okla., to take on the Big 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The first home game for the Bears will be Oct. 3 against Abilene Christian at First Security Field at Estes Stadium.
