JONESBORO - Arkansas State turned its attention to 2014 with a successful recruiting class signed under new head coach Blake Anderson, and today the Red Wolves enter their first spring camp under Anderson.

A-State will hold 15 practices, including its Spring Game on April 18, over a five-week period as part of its spring camp. The three-time defending Sun Belt Conference champions will hold their first four spring practices March 17, 18, 20 and 21, just prior to Arkansas State University's spring-break week. The Red Wolves will hold scrimmages on April 7 and April 14.

The Red Wolves will resume their camp practice schedule March 31 with 11 additional on-field workouts over four consecutive weeks. With the exception of the spring game, every A-State practice will start at 4 p.m. All spring practices are open to the public and media.

Since being named Arkansas State's 30th all-time head football coach on Dec. 19, Anderson has assembled his coaching staff and signed 25 recruits who will be a part of the 2014 roster. Those include four midyear transfers available to participate in spring practices: Carderious Dean (Jr., LB, Byhalia, Miss.), Kyle Harris (Jr., OL, Lindale, Ga.), Blaise Taylor (Fr., CB, Auburn, Ala.) and A.J. Turner (So., LB, Lepanto).

Also on the spring roster will be 2013 All-Sun Belt Conference performers J.D. McKissic (Jr., WR), Qushaun Lee (Sr., LB), Michael Gordon (Jr., RB), Darion Griswold (Jr., TE), Bryce Giddens (Jr., OL), Rocky Hayes (Jr., CB), Sterling Young (Sr., S) and Chris Stone (Jr., DE). A-State returns six starters on offense and eight defensive starters from last year's 8-5 team that ended the season with a victory over Ball State in the GoDaddy Bowl.

Arkansas State opens its 2014 season Aug. 30 at home against Montana State. The Red Wolves' 2014 home schedule includes games against Utah State (Sept. 27), Louisiana-Monroe (Oct. 4), South Alabama (Nov. 8), Appalachian State (Nov. 15) and New Mexico State (Nov. 29).
