JONESBORO – Arkansas State will hold its annual spring game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Bank Stadium where fans will get an early look at the defending Sun Belt Conference champion Red Wolves in a “game day” atmosphere under new head coach Bryan Harsin.

 ASU coach Bryan Harsin
ASU began its spring camp March 11 and will practice three times this week leading up to the spring game. It has one additional practice set for April 15 as part of its spring camp.

There is no admission charge for the spring game, but fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items that will be collected at all open entrances (Gates 2, 6, 7, 8 on the west side of the stadium).  Although there is no charge to attend the spring game, tickets for the event have been distributed. Additional tickets will be available at the entry gates that will grant free admission to the Red Wolves’ home baseball game the same day at 4 p.m. against South Alabama.

The spring game, featuring four 10-minute quarters and a 15-minute halftime, will utilize a traditional game format and scoring system.

In addition to the on-field action, the ASU band will be in attendance as an electric atmosphere is expected. Several promotions will be held, including an autograph session on the Liberty Bank Stadium field with the players and coaches following the game. Fans are encouraged to tailgate prior to and after the game, and Tailgate City will be open with inflatables and activities planned for kids.

Barbeque, concessions, Arkansas State merchandise and 2013 football tickets will be available for purchase.  Free 2013 A-State football posters and schedule cards will be available, and the ASU Bookstore will issue a limited-edition Red Wolves’ T-shirt with the purchase of a 12-pack Coca-Cola product.

A-State’s spring football game and three-game baseball series against South Alabama are being held as part of the Red Wolves’ “Springcominng” weekend, which includes the ASU women’s tennis team’s final home match of the season at 11 a.m. on April 13 against Louisiana-Monroe at Allen Park.

Campus Kids Day will be held in conjunction with the tennis match, and all participants will receive a free T-shirt, tattoos, a chance to win prizes, rules to understand the game, and have their picture taken with the players. There will be face painting, an ice cream social and other fun activities. Participants will have the opportunity to spend time on the court between matches.  To register for the event please R.S.V.P. to the Arkansas State Athletics Marketing Department (promotions@astate.edu) with your child’s name, shirt size, parent name and telephone number.

The Red Wolves’ baseball series against the Jaguars includes a 6 p.m. outing Friday, April 12, when Harsin will throw the first pitch.  The series will conclude at 1 p.m. Sunday at Tomlinson Stadium and Kell Field.

Season tickets for A-State’s 2013 football campaign remain on sale at the ASU Ticket Office, as well as single-game baseball tickets for the 2013 season. Contact the ASU Ticket Office at 870-972-2781.
