Hogs: 4 walk-ons put on scholarship
LB Austin Jones
FAYETTEVILLE - It was learned Monday that Arkansas coach Bret Bielema has awarded scholarships to four walk-ons projected to play key roles this season.
The four are senior starting middle linebacker Austin Jones, senior special-teamer and reserve safety Price Holmes of Batesville, junior backup fullback Patrick Arinze and sophomore reserve tight end Alex Voelzke.
Sophomore tight ends Voelkze and Mitch Loewen, redshirt freshman Jeremy Sprinkle of White Hall and true freshman Hunter Henry of Pulaski Academy are beset with more responsibilities since senior Austin Tate underwent shoulder surgery that likely will sideline him at least through Arkansas' four non-conference games.
The Razorbacks open their season on Aug. 31 against Louisiana-Lafayette in Fayetteville, host Samford Sept. 7 in Little Rock, host Southern Mississippi Sept. 14 in Fayetteville and visit Rutgers on Sept. 21.
