Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week
LITTLE ROCK - A dozen of the top teams in Arkansas start the 2013 high school season during Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week.
Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week begins with a Labor Day doubleheader at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville on Monday, Sept. 2. Two-time defending Class 7A champion Fayetteville plays the Warren Lumberjacks, the top-ranked team in Class 4A, at 7:30 p.m. Shiloh Christian meets Siloam Springs at 5 p.m.
UAPB's Golden Lion Stadium in Pine Bluff hosts a doubleheader on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Class 3A power McGehee, which has won conseuctive conference titles, meets Hamburg at 5:30 p.m., followed by 2012 Class 5A quarterfinalist White Hall against its former conference rival Monticello.
On Thursday, Sept. 5, at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Clinton plays Arkansas Baptist at 5:30 p.m., followed by Rose Bud against 6-2A favorite Hazen.
In the event's 13-year history, 18 teams started runs to the state finals during Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week. Four teams that played in the 2009 Kickoff Week reached the state title game.
