CONWAY - The University of Central Arkansas Bears scored eight touchdowns during their 118-play scrimmage on Saturday, the second of fall camp, at First Security Field at Estes Stadium.

Sophomore running back Anthony Blackmon led the scoring charge with three touchdowns, while fellow running backs Terence Bobo and Jackie Hinton, and receivers Derrick Steele and Dominique Croom also got in on the scoring.

“It was a productive day for the offense UCA head coach Clint Conque said. “We scored some points running the ball and throwing the ball. The passing game was good pretty much throughout. We had a few more dropped balls, and we have to clean up that area. But I thought our protection, with both the ones and twos was much, much better today.

“Early, I thought the defense stuffed the run pretty well, but then as we expanded the field offensively, we were able to run the football pretty well. Anthony Blackmon continues to impress. I'm a little disappointed with Bobo with ball security. It was an issue in the spring game and it's happened a couple of times this fall.

“He's running hard but he's running too high. We have to work on his body lean."

Junior quarterback Nathan Dick was on target most of the day, according to Conque, and redshirt freshman Wynrick Smothers showed some running ability.

“I thought Nathan Dick was pretty sharp,' he said. “His passing was pretty sharp and he had good pocket presence. I thought he might have been a little late on one or two throws. But outside of the one bad decision he made in the red area, I thought he was very good again. And Wynrick had some nice runs and threw the ball well for the most part.'
