SEC releases 2014 football schedules
2014 ARKANSAS Schedule
The Southeastern Conference has announced the conference football schedule for the 2014 season.
"One year from today, August 21, 2014, the SEC Network will be launched, marking an historic day in the almost 80-year history of the Southeastern Conference," SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said. "One week later, the SEC Network will kick off the 2014 football season with a conference game between Texas A&M and South Carolina scheduled for Thursday, August 28 in Columbia, SC."
Each SEC institution will determine the timing for release of its full schedule for the 2014 season, including conference and non-conference contests. With 14 playing weekends, the 2014 schedule includes two open dates for each team and conference contests scheduled each week of the season.
As announced following the 2013 spring meetings, the conference football schedule format is currently under review. The 2014 schedule is based on a 12-year rotation of conference opponents, which includes six divisional contests for each team, along with games against one permanent non-divisional opponent and one rotating non-divisional opponent.
"The SEC Presidents and Chancellors have committed to a review of football scheduling to be completed in time for preparation of the 2016 schedule," Slive said at the spring meetings. "The objective of this review is to develop a scheduling format for the 2016 season and beyond, which will be in the best interests of the conference." The conference's current 6-1-1 scheduling format will continue until a new format is approved by the conference membership.
For the 23rd consecutive year, the 2014 season will culminate with the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, December 6 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
