WEEK 1 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
7A/6A CENTRAL
GREENWOOD (21) at Sallisaw, Okla.: Greenwood beat Sallisaw 49-21 a year ago. Senior receiver Drew Morgan caught 77 passes for 1,344 yards and 23 TDs in 2011.
SHERIDAN (1) at LR Hall: Sheridan won its first playoff game since 1990 last year. Hall loses its eighth in a row.
Mills at LR PARKVIEW (6): Mills won only two games last season, and two expected starters transferred after spring practice. Parkview senior QB Caelon Harden accounted for 13 TDs in four games last year.
MORRILTON (4) at Russellville: Morrilton snapped Russellville's five-game winning streak in the series with a 28-point triumph last season. Morrilton senior RB Jamar Criswell performed well in the fall after recovering from an ACL injury.

7A/6A EAST
JONESBORO (11) vs. Greene County Tech (Tue.): Jonesboro has beaten the Eagles by 44 points over the past two seasons. Greene County Tech senior receiver Travis Ryan (more than 1,000 all-purpose yards in 2011) could develop into a college prospect.
Marion at WYNNE (2): Marion has beaten Wynne six of the past seven seasons, including 30-28 a year ago. Wynne, the 5A East favorite, returns junior QB Reed Wingo (2,735 yards in 2011) and senior RB Josh Selvy (more than 1,100 all-purpose yards).
Rogers at MOUNTAIN HOME (3): Rogers returns starters at 15 positions, including senior linebacker Bryan Gibby (52 tackles in 2011). Mountain Home junior QB Drake Walker generated more than 2,000 yards last season.
LR McClellan at SEARCY (10): McClellan senior QB Akee Johnson could develop into one of the top athletes in the state. Searcy stomped McClellan by 27 points in the first round of the playoffs last season.

C. Fairview at EL DORADO (10): See Hootens.com Game of the Week.
NORTH LR (14) at Lake Hamilton: North LR fields the state's most talented team this fall with three players listed on hootens.com Top 20 in-state recruits, including two defensive linemen and University of Alabama running back commit Altee Tenpenny. Defending 6A state runner-up Lake Hamilton will be better later in the year.
NORTH PULASKI (2) at LR Fair: North Pulaski has won four games over the past seven years, while Fair won 10 (but only two in the past four years).

All-state tailback Walter Ashley (5-9, 170) totaled almost 2,300 all-purpose yards as a junior. Star City transfer Austin McGehee's leg strength provides Pine Bluff solid special teams.
SHERIDAN (1) at LR Hall: Sheridan won its first playoff game since 1990 last year. Hall loses its eighth in a row.
Texarkana at TEXARKANA, TEXAS: (14): The Razorbacks have won 22 games over the past four years since claiming back-to-back state titles in 2006-07.
