No. 8 Earle at No. 6 Rivercrest

 
Earle beat Piggott 48-0 last week; its second shutout victory of the year. The Bulldogs have beaten their opponents by a combined 265-38 and average 53 ppg. Earle whipped Rivercrest 44-6 in 2008, marking Rivercrest's lowest offensive output of last season. This year, Rivercrest averages 33 ppg and has allowed 92 points; the Colts allowed 208 points through the first five games last year. Rivercrest harassed Harrisburg quarterback Zack Davis into a 28 of 52 passing performance (season-low 54 percent) and intercepted two passes Week 4. Rivercrest senior all-conference RB Jasper Jackson averaged 17.3 yards per carry in last week's 30-13 win against Hoxie.

WEEK 6 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
1-3A

Cedarville at CHARLESTON (24): Cedarville lost to Lavaca 14-7 last week, but it has not lost five games in a row since 2006. Charleston FB Ryan McDonald (703 yards in 2009) ran eight times for 102 yards and three TDs in last week's 31-0 win against Mountainburg. The Charleston defense, led by David Weeks' 35 tackles, allows 171 yards and 11 ppg.
Elkins at MANSFIELD (14): Elkins lost 26-6 to Mansfield a year ago. Mansfield won 31-0 at Greenland last week, marking its first shutout in league play since Week 7, 2007.
GREENLAND (7) at Mountainburg: Greenland whipped Mountainburg 35-6 last year. Mountainburg could shake things up in the 1-3A this week with a second conference win. Charleston led Mountainburg 31-0 at halftime last week. Mansfield led Greenland 24-0 at halftime. Both teams lost 31-0. Greenland QB Jordon Larkan was sacked five times and Adrian Rojas (96 yards) suffered a deep bruise.    
Lincoln at LAVACA (30): Lincoln has improved its scoring defense by an average of 12 ppg this year. Lincoln's defense held Elkins to two TDs last week, but the Elkins defense scored two TDs in a 28-14 win over Lincoln. In 2008, Lavaca won 56-14 at Lincoln.

2-3A
Barton at HARDING ACADEMY (17): Barton junior RB/DB Torrious Burton ran for a 75-yard TD and returned a fumble 35 yards in last week's 24-12 win at Episcopal. Barton senior RB Bryan Gause (4.47 forty) can go. Harding Academy junior QB Seth Keese has completed 73 of 120 passes (61 percent) for 934 yards and seven TDs this fall with two interceptions. He passed for 218 yards and two TDs and ran for two TDs in last week's 47-21 win at England. Harding Academy, the 2-3A preseason favorite, has shown balance, rushing for 974 yards. Junior RB Ben Lecrone rushed just six times the first two games, but has carried 62 times for 436 yards and five TDs in wins over Arkansas Baptist, Episcopal and England. Senior tackle Jacob Feather and all-state tackle Montgomery Fisher spearhead a Harding defense that allows 172 rushing yards and 122 passing yards per game.  
RIVERVIEW (12) at Brinkley: Riverview senior QB Grafton Harrell has been hampered by a bone fracture in his throwing hand. Sophomore QB Josh Roach threw three TDs and ran for two TDs in last week's 53-32 win against Rose Bud. Brinkley lost 33-12 at Riverview last year.
EPISCOPAL (7) at England: Episcopal and Barton were at a stalemate in the fourth quarter last week, but the Bears scored 12 unanswered points to win the game. England senior WB Jimmy Brewer ran 4 and 24 yards for TDs and caught a 7-yard TD in last week's 47-21 loss against Harding Academy.
MAYFLOWER (35) at Rose Bud: Mayflower junior RB Demetris Lasker ran for 248 yards and two TDs in last week's 56-28 win against Brinkley. Rose Bud lost 60-16 at Mayflower last year.

3-3A
Manila at CAVE CITY (35): Manila senior RB John Wilbanks ran for two TDs and converted a two-point attempt in last week's 55-14 loss at Harrisburg. Cave City senior RB Tyler Engleman and sophomore RB Tyler Poulette combined for 137 yards rushing and two TDs on eight carries in last week's 41-0 win at Corning.
Corning at HOXIE (30): Corning lost 34-7 against Hoxie a year ago. Hoxie sophomore RB Sebastian Irvin ran for 109 yards on 27 carries in last week's 30-13 loss at Rivercrest.

HARRISBURG (35) at Piggott: Harrisburg junior QB Zach Davis has completed 92 of 151 passes (61 percent) for 1,605 yards and 15 TDs this fall, including 464 yards and six TDs last week in a 55-14 blowout of Manila. Piggott lost 34-6 at Harrisburg a year ago.

4-3A
Atkins at GREEN FOREST (1): Atkins won at Mountain View last week 36-19 despite trailing by five points at halftime and committing three turnovers. Green Forest won 22-14 at Atkins last year.
LAMAR (35) at Marshall: Lamar senior RB Zach Ward scored two TDs in last week's 35-21 win at Yellville-Summit. Marshall lost 48-17 at Lamar a year ago.
Mountain View at PARIS (40): Paris has allowed 13 points in its past four games. Mountain View lost 50-8 against Paris last year.
Yellville-Summit at PERRYVILLE (12): Yellville-Summit lost 39-20 against Perryville last year. Perryville senior RB Royce McClain carried the ball seven times for 108 yards and a TD in last week's 47-8 win against Marshall.

5-3A
Jessieville at ARKANSAS BAPTIST (7): Jessieville has scored 35 more points than it has allowed this year; it allowed 12 more points than it scored through Week 5 last year. Arkansas Baptist junior QB Jon Moon passed for 217 yards and two TDs and ran for 143 yards and a TD in last week's 42-23 win against Bismarck.
Centerpoint at BAUXITE (14): Centerpoint lost 21-14 to Bauxite last year. Bauxite senior RB Blake Wood ran 8 yards for a TD in last week's 37-7 loss against Fountain Lake.
GLEN ROSE (28) at Bismarck: Glen Rose senior QB Ethan Holicer passed for 231 yards and four TDs, and junior RB Steven Kehner ran for 171 yards and a TD in last week's 39-28 win at Jessieville. Bismarck lost 42-6 at Glen Rose a year ago.
Magnet Cove at FOUNTAIN LAKE (28): Magnet Cove senior RBs Andrew Corter and Tyler Strother rushed for a combined 151 yards on 28 carries in last week's 42-12 win at Centerpoint. Fountain Lake junior RB Mark Makin averages 8.7 yards per carry and 152 yards per game. He carried the ball 15 times for 177 yards and three TDs and returned a kickoff 78 yards for a TD in last week's 37-7 win at Bauxite.

7-3A
Fouke at CAMDEN HARMONY GROVE (30): Fouke lost 49-14 against Harmony Grove last year. Harmony Grove shut out Gurdon last week 22-0.
PARKERS CHAPEL (28) at Drew Central: Parkers Chapel has allowed 48 points this season; it allowed 209 in its first five games a year ago. Drew Central won 56-46 at Parkers Chapel last year.
Gurdon at RISON (35): Gurdon tries to avoid its fourth consecutive shutout. Rison junior RB Raphael "Rock" Caldwell ran for two TDs and returned the opening kickoff for a TD in last week's 52-18 win against Drew Central.
Lafayette County at PRESCOTT (35): Lafayette County lost 57-0 against Prescott last year. Prescott has not lost a league game at home since Week 5, 2007.
