HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 2 Nashville at No. 1 Shiloh Christian

These teams have combined to win the past four state championships, and they've played in 16 title games over the past 16 years. Shiloh Christian has lost just three times during the past three seasons, while Nashville has lost twice during that span.

Nashville has won five conference titles and three state championships in the past six seasons. Scrapper coaches began peeking ahead at the potential quarterfinal showdown with Shiloh Christian when the playoff brackets were announced in late July. "We have to play smart and disciplined," said Nashville coach Billy Dawson.

The Scrappers, who average 43 points per game, combine stout running and passing attacks. Junior quarterback Cole Moore completes 65 percent of his passes for 2,820 yards and 23 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. Junior running back Devencio Hawthorne has gained 944 yards and 14 TDs. Nashville surrenders 16 points per game. Senior linebacker Brett Little has racked up 75 tackles, while senior tackle Robert Johnson has made 58 stops.

Shiloh Christian applied the 35-point sportsmanship rule on every 1-4A opponent this season, but the Saints were tied with DeQueen 35-35 in the third quarter last week before easing to a 56-35 decision. Junior QB Kiehl Frazier has passed for 3,101 yards and 40 TDs this season, throwing just eight interceptions, and he's rushed for 417 yards and eight scores. Junior Zann Jones has caught 58 passes for 977 yards and eight scores. Senior Chris Bryant has tallied 1,070 total yards and 19 TDs. Junior Colt Thomas paces the Saint defense with 81 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two interceptions (returning one for a score). Senior cornerback Wilson Huett has racked up 59 tackles, and senior linebacker Mitchell Roberts has racked up 55 tackles, including seven for loss.

"Nashville has been the king of Class 4A for the past decade," said Shiloh Christian coach Josh Floyd. "They have size, speed and play with fundamentals."

WEEK 13 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
TOP HALF OF THE BRACKET

LONOKE (3) at Malvern: Malvern made a commitment to patch its defense in the spring, and the Leopards surrender just 14 points a game. Linemen Grady Ollison, Osha Johnson, Mitchell Whitman and Eric Watkins occupy blockers, allowing leading tacklers/linebackers Kevin Bell and Devan Baugh to make plays. Lonoke running back Brandon Smith has rushed for 1,650 yards and 22 TDs this year. Senior QB Michael Nelson and fullback/linebacker Morgan Linton provide leadership for the Jackrabbits.

Heber Springs at OSCEOLA (7): Heber Springs returns to the quarterfinals for the second straight season and second time in school history. Osceola also returns to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year, but the Seminoles also ventured to at least the third round in 2005 and 2002. Seminole tailback Tony Dancy (2,132 yards and 27 TDs) "is the best we've seen," said Heber Springs coach Steve Janski. "He combines power with another gear." Osceola junior linebacker Charles Cody has made 121 tackles this season. Heber Springs' Braylon Mitchell starts at running back (almost 1,600 yards this year) and has developed into a leader at linebacker.

BOTTOM HALF OF THE BRACKET
Nashville at SHILOH CHRISTIAN (10): Hootens.com Game of the Week. These teams have combined to win the past four state titles.

But the Bulldogs have committed nine turnovers in the past three games. Stuttgart QB Zach Boleware "is the best athlete in the conference," an opposing coach said.
