HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 5 Warren at Monticello

Warren has beaten its rival eight straight times since losing 19-18 in 2000. The Lumberjacks gave up 342 yards rushing in last week's 34-20 loss to Class 6A Watson Chapel. Warren's offense looked crisp at times, as senior quarterback Hayden Smith passed for 332 yards and two TDs and ran for a score. But Warren committed 16 penalties, including 14 false starts. "We shot ourselves in the foot," Coach Bo Hembree says. "We made too many mistakes."

Monticello beat DeQueen 27-13 on Monday at UAPB during Simmons First/Hootens.com Kickoff Week. Billie senior Brishen Mathews made 10 tackles, blocked two kicks and rushed for 57 yards against DeQueen, while junior Brian Handely rushed for 163 yards and two TDs in the first half. Senior QB/linebacker Joe Carmical made 11 tackles, including a crucial fourth-down, fourth-quarter stop. "They are loaded, and most of them played last year," Hembree says. An opposing coach who has scouted both teams says this is Monticello's best chance to end the losing streak.
