No. 12 Springdale at No. 11 Fayetteville
This could determine a playoff berth. The emergence of Heritage as a contender for postseason play makes the Battle of the Bulldogs bigger in the 7A West race. Springdale's defense gained confidence clobbering Class 5A power Alma 41-0 two weeks ago and only trailed No. 1 Har-Ber 10-3 at halftime last Friday. Fayetteville hasn't won in a month and its lack of linemen was evident in last week's 45-10 loss to Bentonville. Speedy senior receiver/running back Michael Heintzman has emerged as Fayetteville's top playmaker, occasionally taking direct snaps in the WildDog formation.
TV SHOW
Hooten's Arkansas Football airs statewide 11 a.m. Saturdays on CBS (Today's THV 11 and KFSM TV 5). Games scheduled to be featured this week include Bentonville at FS Southside, Springdale at Fayetteville, Cabot at LR Catholic, LR Central at Russellville and North LR at Conway. Springdale senior fullback/defensive end Dylan Marrs will be featured as the Arkansas Air Guard Scholar Athlete of the Week.

WEEK 5 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
7A CENTRAL
NORTH LR (1) at Conway: North LR travels for the first time in a month. It's improving Conway's homecoming. Conway allowed 401 yards rushing last week at Cabot, but athletic senior Wampus Cat QB Xaiver Acklin completed 11 of 24 passes for 139 yards and rushed for 132 yards and a TD. North LR diminutive speedster Tim Johnson accounts for almost half of North LR's offense with 48 carries for 518 yards (10.8 yards per carry) and six TDs. Linebackers Coby Miller (26 tackles) and Jeremiah Miller (25 stops) lead North LR in tackles. North LR is the fastest defense Conway has seen.
LR Central at RUSSELLVILLE (21): LR Central likely headed for 21 consecutive losses, but only lost to Russellville 7-6 last year. Russellville, riddled by the flu bug, committed its first two turnovers in last week's 28-20 loss at North LR. Russellville kicker Zach Hocher has booted 21 of 22 kickoffs into the end zone.
CABOT (1) at LR Catholic: Cabot can pass but has a higher handoff completion rate. The Panthers rushed for 401 yards last week against Conway with Sonic Super Team fullback Michael James sidelined by injury. Catholic's Sonic Super Team QB Taylor Bartlett, who completed 20 of 32 passes for 210 yards in last week's 21-13 loss at Bryant, guided the Rockets to a 35-28 upset win last season at Cabot.
BRYANT (7) at Van Buren: Small and fast Bryant made a first down on all but one series in last week's 21-13 win over bigger LR Catholic. Van Buren won 28-24 last week at LR Central but needs another victory to make consecutive playoff appearances. Van Buren beat LR Central and Conway last season.
7A WEST
Springdale at FAYETTEVILLE (1): Game of the Week with highlights on Hooten's Arkansas Football at 11 a.m. Saturday.
FS Northside at HAR-BER (17): Har-Ber improved to 3-1 all-time against Springdale last week, but the Wildcats have never beaten FS Northside. Har-Ber's defense limited Springdale to 139 yards while Rogers Heritage was beating FS Northside for its first ever 7A West win.
BENTONVILLE (10) at FS Southside: Bentonville mercy ruled Fayetteville last week with Warren move-in tailback Courtney Haskell totaling 269 yards and three TDs, including a 73-yard run and 95-yard catch and run. An improved passing game makes the Tiger offense much better than a year ago. FS Southside running back David Adair rushed for 195 yards in 38-21 win at Rogers.
Rogers at HERITAGE (1): Second-year program Heritage took giant step toward playoffs with its first-ever 7A West win last week at FS Northside. Now the War Eagles believe and can claim Rogers' city championship.
