HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 10 Fayetteville at No. 4 Fort Smith Southside
FS Southside hasn't beaten Fayetteville since 2002, but the game has been decided by a touchdown or less three of the past four years. FS Southside has recovered from preseason injuries and a Week 1 loss to LR Catholic with big wins over Bentonville and at Springdale. FS Southside's Leo Gallo hit just one of three field goals last week at Springdale before booting a 41-yarder as time expired for a 20-17 win. Fayetteville scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win last week at FS Northside 37-27. "Fayetteville has the best quarterback in the conference and two D-I college prospects at receiver," says FS Southside coach Jeff Williams. "And their defense is playing with more confidence." FS Southside QB Hunter Wharton is expected to start after missing last week. Rebel running backs David Adair (726 yards, 5.5 yards per carry) and Lee Hollis (298 yards and eight TDs) protect the ball. FS Southside has had only two turnovers (one fumble) since committing three in the opener against LR Catholic. Last year Fayetteville scored 21 points off FS Southside turnovers and recovered a fumble on the 3-yard line late to beat the Rebels 24-21.

WEEK 7 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
7A CENTRAL
LR Central at CABOT (28): Little Rock Central's offense has only reached the endzone against Van Buren and Cabot likes cupcakes (nonconference opponents are 3-15).
BRYANT (9) at Conway: An interception return and punt return set up Russellville scores to beat Bryant 17-3 last week. Conway claimed its second victory last week beating its second winless opponent.
North LR at LR CATHOLIC (3): Two of the five quality teams in the 7A Central. Both need the win and would like it by at least a 13-point margin for playoff positioning.
Van Buren at RUSSELLVILLE (17): Russellville's big win at Bryant last week and its remaining schedule, including LR Catholic and Cabot at home, make a conference title attainable. Van Buren plays host to Conway next week, likely deciding the league's final playoff representative.
7A WEST
Fayetteville at FS SOUTHSIDE (7): FS Southside's Leo Gallo hit just one of three field goals last week at Springdale before booting a 41-yarder as time expired for a 20-17 win. Fayetteville scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win last week at FS Northside 37-27. Last year Fayetteville scored 21 points off FS Southside turnovers and recovered a fumble inside the 5-yard line late to beat the Rebels 24-21.
FS Northside at SPRINGDALE (1): Two of the state's better junior QBs meet. Northside's Tanner Knight has thrown for more than 300 yards in five of six games (injured early at Har-Ber). Springdale totaled just 38 yards rushing against FS Southside's strong front last week, but Blake Fogg (4.5 speed) caught five passes for 172 yards from QB Joseph Calcagni (6-2, 190). Snake-bit Springdale has lost on the final play the past two weeks.
Rogers at BENTONVILLE (7): Bentonville ended Rogers' 15-game home win streak last year. Rogers, with or without its top QB, won't avenge that loss this week.
HAR-BER (11) at Heritage: Har-Ber's defense, the state's best allowing 11.8 points weekly, gives high-scoring Heritage (35.5 points) its second dose of reality in eight days. Bentonville beat previously undefeated Heritage 56-27 last Friday.
