GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 7 Texarkana at No. 9 Marion
Texarkana travels in the first round for the first time since 2005, playing its best football of the season. Texarkana stunned Lake Hamilton 21-18 two weeks ago after losing six games by a combined 197-82, including a 14-13 heartbreaker Week 5 at El Dorado. Last week junior tailback Charles Hillis (5-8, 140) paced the Porkers with 162 yards and three first-half scores in the 39-7 win over Sheridan. Junior quarterback Kierra Harris (6-0, 170) also tossed three TDs for Texarkana.
Marion escaped Week 10 with a 43-36 victory over Jacksonville despite surrendering more than 600 yards. DeKendrick Smith's interception with 27 seconds left sealed the victory. Marion entered allowing 20 points in conference games but couldn't slow Jacksonville. Marion nearly pulled a major upset two weeks ago against Jonesboro, losing 18-15.
Both teams average 25 points per game, but Texarkana owns a slight edge on defense, surrendering 20 ppg to Marion's 22. Marion hasn't won a playoff game since 2006.
