HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 9 Russellville at No. 8 Fayetteville
Old 7A West foes meet at Harmon Field with Fayetteville looking to avenge last year's 35-21 loss at Russellville. Fayetteville flogged LR Central 41-0 in its opener, but the Purple Dogs missed a field goal and an extra point, had a field goal blocked and failed on a pair two-point conversions, including one with 10 seconds left in a 20-18 loss to Jefferson City, Mo., last week. Russellville ripped rival Morrilton 33-7 in the opener and led Class 4A Dardanelle 28-0 at halftime last week. Russellville kicker Zach Hocher routinely boots kickoffs into the endzone, nailed a 47-yard field goal in the opener and landed a 46-yard punt on the Dardanelle 1-yard line last week. Cyclone QB Barrett Hughes completed eight of 10 tosses for 182 yards and two TDs last week while running back Jacob Sparks has rushed for more than 80 yards in the first half of both Cyclone games. "(Fayetteville) will be a good measuring stick for us," says Russellville coach Jeff Holt. "Fayetteville's very talented on the perimeter. We can't give (QB Brandon Allen) a lot of time because he can really throw it and score quickly. He reminds me of (former Cyclone QB great Landon Leach) because he is so good in the pocket but doesn't have to be stationary. He's dangerous out of the pocket. He can roll out and make throws."

WEEK 3 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
7A CENTRAL
CABOT (35) at LR Hall: Cabot completes Class 7A's easiest non-conference schedule before playing host to improving Conway. Cabot defense speedy like 2000 state champs, and three-year starting QB Seth Bloomberg is a multi-threat.
Benton at CONWAY (14): Wampus Cats welcome break from 7A-West competition, eye trip to Cabot. Benton loses first two by 30.5 points.
Texarkana at BRYANT (15): Hornets hanging 43.5 points on Class 6A competition.
Sylvan Hills at NORTH LR (21): Not a good time for the Sylvan Hills Bears to crawl down JFK Boulevard. North LR madder than a mother Bear after last week's last-second loss to El Dorado.
LR Central at FS SOUTHSIDE (17): Southside defense dominates as LR Central's losing streak extends to school-record 14. Tigers have yet to score a TD, settling for field goals last week after taking turnovers on the 6- and 22-yard lines.
Russellville at FAYETTEVILLE (4): Game of the Week could be decided by special teams.
FS Northside at LR CATHOLIC (3): LR Catholic, winners Week 1 at FS Southside, look to sweep the Fort. Northside QB Tanner Knight patiently guides Grizzlies to Class 7A best 56.5 points per game.
Van Buren at ROGERS (7): Mounties won at Van Buren 62-21 last year. Van Buren allowing 46 points per game.
7A WEST
Alma at SPRINGDALE (1): Alma scared No. 1 Har-Ber last week while quick-strike Springdale blew out Class 5A Blytheville 52-21. Big-play Bulldog receiver Blake Fogg is one to watch, but Blytheville (49 rushes for 335 yards/6.8 yards per carry) enjoyed success running straight at Springdale.
