WEEK 2 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS)

Class 7A No. 1 Bryant at Class 5A No. 1 LR Parkview

Bryant is the four-time defending Class 7A state champions; LR Parkview is the favorite to win Class 5A this season after dropping down from Class 6A. Bryant has not faced many challenges in recent years. The Hornets were set to play Denton (Texas) Ryan last Friday in Shreveport but the game was cancelled because of severe weather. Parkview was idle last week after beating Springdale Har-Ber 48-26 in the season opener Aug. 25.

Parkview is led by Cameron Settles and Darien Bennett, who combined to rush for 303 yards in the Patriots’ win over Har-Ber. Bryant is led by sophomore QB Jordan Walker, who passed for 251 yards and 4 TDs in the Hornets’ win over Benton in the Salt Bowl on Aug. 27.

LAST WEEK picked 10 of 11 games involving Class 7A teams last week, and has picked 20 of 24 (83 percent) for the season.

FAYETTEVILLE (7)  at FS Northside: Fayetteville bounced back from a last-second 31-28 loss Cabot in Week 0 to beat North LR 28-10. QB Drake Lindsey threw 4 TD passes against the Charging Wildcats. Northside led Greenwood by 18 points with less than 4 minutes to play last week, but the Grizzlies could not off the Bulldogs.

ROGERS HERITAGE (14) at LR Southwest: Heritage beat Lewisburg, Kan., 20-16 to improve to 2-0 for the first time since the program’s inception. Southwest was idle after falling to Rogers in Week 0.
