HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
Subiaco Academy (2-0) at CEDAR RIDGE (2-0) The visiting Trojans, coming off a 34-24 win over Marvell, will have their hands full up against a Cedar Ridge defense that is allowing 10 points per game after 2 weeks.
WEEK 2 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS and highlighted)
CORNING (1-0) at Rose Bud (0-2) The Bobcats had the week off after last Friday's game with Rector was canceled, and Corning travels to take on a Rose Bud squad that is coming off a 50-18 loss to Woodlawn.
Guy-Perkins (0-2) at DERMOTT (0-1) Dermott looks to rebound after falling to Augusta 28-24 in the final seconds last week and gets a first-year Guy-Perkins team that is yet to score a point in 2024.
Marvell (0-1) at AUGUSTA (1-0) A touchdown pass from Keldrick Woods to Hayden Miller with 6 seconds remaining sealed the win for the Red Devils in their season-opening win over Dermott. Augusta looks to build on that at home against the Mustangs, who fell to Subiaco Academy last week.
RECTOR (0-0) at Marshall (1-1) Sanctioned defending state champion Rector had to cancel its scheduled season-opener last Friday against Corning. The Cougars are scheduled this week to take on Marshall, which fell to Cedar Ridge 36-13 last week. Marshall scored 82 in the season opener against Guy-Perkins.
South Side Bee Branch (1-0) at HERMITAGE (0-1) South Side’s first varsity football game could not have gone much better, as the Hornets shut out Blevins 50-0. They hope to keep the momentum going on the road against a Hermitage squad that fell to Midland 58-20.
WOODLAWN (1-0) at Midland (1-0) Both teams hit the 50-point mark in their respective season openers — Woodlawn beating Rose Bud 50-18 and Midland beating Hermitage 58-20. The visiting Bears own the edge, having beaten Midland 44-14 in Week 2 last fall.
