HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
Class 7A No. 4 Cabot at No. 2 Benton

Two weeks ago Benton jumped on defending Class 4A champion Arkadelphia for a 21-point first-quarter lead in a 56-17 rout. Senior Colen Morrow fired three TD passes to classmates Michael Allison and Garrett Body. Landers Super Team running back Zak Wallace bowled over Badger defenders for three scores. Benton did not play last week. Class 7A Cabot last week ran the ball on 58 of its 59 plays for 281 yards in a 27-10 win at Class 6A El Dorado. Cabot drove 62, 80, 57 and 45 yards for TDs and three Panthers ran for 69 yards or more, led by Graham Turner's 113 yards. Class 7A Cabot's Dead-T attack likely causes problems for Benton like it did for El Dorado. Cabot improves Coach Mike Malham’s record to 300-133-4 at the school with a win.

WEEK 3 PREDICTIONS (favored teams in CAPS followed by point spread)
6A EAST
MARION (4) at Blytheville: The home team has won the past four meetings, including a 53-8 Marion win last year. Keith Houston is the first Marion coach to start 2-0 in the modern era (since 1969). Marion has stuffed a potential game-winning two-point conversion the first two games. Another close contest is likely at Blytheville, but Marion gains confidence weekly.
HAR-BER (2) at Pine Bluff: This is the first meeting of schools. Pine Bluff looks to avoid an 0-2 start for the first time since 2009. That year's Zebras were 2-4 before losing to El Dorado in the state title game. Class 7A Har-Ber impressed last week in a 20-point win at Russellville. Junior running back Max Pena ran for 160 yards and two TDs, but QB Blaise Wittschen left in the second half with a concussion and will be evaluated this week. Pine Bluff's rivalry game with Class 5A Watson Chapel last week was cancelled at halftime with the score tied at 14 because of lightning.
LR Hall at JACKSONVILLE (12): Jacksonville beat Hall by a combined 36 points over the past two seasons. Hall has lost 10 straight games and last week its game against Mills was cancelled to lightning. Jacksonville has lost five of its past six games and its last two losses the season were shutouts (42-0 setbacks last week to LR Catholic and first round of last year's playoffs at Benton). Both teams lack depth, but Jacksonville's defensive line could dominate.
Jonesboro at LR CATHOLIC (8): Jonesboro has won two straight against Class 7A LR Catholic, including 28-26 a year ago. The Golden Hurricane played Class 7A Conway within four points until the fourth quarter last week in a 37-16 loss. Jonesboro's offense is anchored by senior Ole Miss commit Darius Thomas at left tackle, classmate Tate Lutes (11 catches for 186 yards two TDs in 2018) and promising sophomore QB Cross Jumper (516 passing yards and seven scores with three interceptions). Catholic last week downed Jacksonville 42-0 for its first shutout since skunking LR Hall 49-0 in 2013.
Wynne at WEST MEMPHIS (10): Wynne won this matchup in 2014, but West Memphis won the last meeting 20-19 in 2015. Wynne last week led defending Class 4A state champion Arkadelphia 14-0 at halftime and won 35-28. West Memphis shutout LR Central 35-0 before mercy-ruling Blytheville 35-15 last week. West Memphis intercepted four passes last Friday. If West Memphis defensive line remains disciplined against Wynne's Flexbone attack then the Blue Devils improve to 3-0.
Mountain Home, Sylvan Hills and Searcy are open.

6A WEST
CABOT (3) at Benton
: See Hootens.com Game of the Week.
Sand Springs, Okla. at GREENWOOD (10): Greenwood last week won its seventh straight against Fort Smith Southside 52-27. Senior QB Peyton Holt amassed 482 total yards and four TDs while sophomore Hunter Wilkinson rushed for 94 yards and two scores. Treyton Dawson (11 catches for 151 yards) and Luke Leonard (10 receptions for 143 yards) emerged as pass-catching threats.
LAKE HAMILTON (14) at Hot Springs: Lake Hamilton has won three of the past four meetings against Class 5A Hot Springs, including 35-7 a year ago. Lake Hamilton last week led Class 4A Malvern 49-10 at halftime. Sophomore Layne Warrick completed all five of his passes last week for 114 yards and two scores. Lake Hamilton sophomore running back Carlos Brewer has 262 yards rushing (10.5 YPC) and three TDs this season.
Siloam Springs at VAN BUREN (10): The visiting team has won four of the past six meetings, but Siloam Springs won at home last season 35-21. Siloam Springs last week committed five turnovers and surrendered three sacks in a 42-7 loss to Class 5A Harrison. Harrison slashed Siloam for 218 rushing yards (6.1 YPC) and five scores.
WHITE HALL (3) at Sheridan: Class 5A White Hall has won five of the past six against Sheridan and two straight. Sheridan had an open date last Friday after rushing for just 38 yards (1.3 YPC) in a 42-0 loss to Searcy.
RUSSELLVILLE (10) at Alma: Schools have split the past six meetings with Russellville winning the last meeting 34-7 in 2015. Russellville gave up four QB sacks and had four turnovers in last week's 27-7 loss to Class 7A Har-Ber. Class 5A Alma is 0-2 for the first time since 2007.
El Dorado is open.
