No. 1 Magazine at No. 10 Hackett
Hackett gave No. 2 Danville fits last week with senior quarterback Logan Bennett passing to all-conference receiver Dexter Holcombe (6-2, 185). Senior running back Dylan Yazel amassed 200 all-purpose yards, including a 65-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. But Danville, missing two starting linemen, still rushed for more than 400 yards in a 42-36 overtime victory. Defending state champion Magazine has whipped West Fork (40-7) and Subiaco Academy (51-6), but the Rattlers started slowly (6-6 after the first quarter) last week at Subiaco Academy. Magazine averages 431 yards and 45.5 ppg. Senior QB Ryan Chambers has accounted for 517 yards, and twin WR Cory Chambers has caught six passes for 137 yards. Cory returned a punt 60 yards for a TD at Subiaco Academy. Senior linebacker Josh Dority paces the Rattler defense with 18 tackles. Magazine held Subiaco to negative 5 yards on 30 attempts. A year ago, Magazine handled Hackett 42-19.

SALEM (12) at Piggott: The 2-0 Salem Greyhounds leap nine spots to No. 24 after taking down 1-3A member Yellville-Summit 21-6 last week on the road. Salem's confidence is surging with sophomore QB Dillon Turner (4.0 GPA) efficiently running the offense, completing 16 of 25 passes for 365 yards and six TDs with one interception. The Greyhounds have dominated time of possession the past two weeks behind senior RT Colby Harber (6-3, 245), RG Cory Arnold (6-0, 265) and center Wesley Griggs (6-2, 250). In 2010, Y-S and Piggott scored 33 points apiece in beating Salem by a combined 66-18. "When you go 1-9, you remember everyone who beats you," Salem coach Sam Weir says.
Hazen at MCCRORY (6): Hazen senior RB Matt Tenison tormented 8-4A member DeWitt last week, rushing for 230 yards and three TDs in a 34-20 road win. McCrory junior RB Logan Best ran for 119 yards (6.2 ypc) last week at EPC, but the Jaguars could not control EPC's big-play offense that averages 321 yards and 46 ppg.
Cedar Ridge at MARKED TREE (8): Marked Tree rebounds from a heart-breaking 38-36 loss to rival Cross County. The Indians failed on fourth-and-1 at the Cross County 2-yard line with 10 seconds left.
Cross County at AUGUSTA (6): Both teams are improved over a year ago. Speedy Augusta surprised Week 1 by tying Hazen 14-14. Cross County counters with a Power I attack that features four linemen who average 290 pounds. Power fullback Katon Hill (6-0, 215) and tailback Dylan Hudson (560 yards in two games) punish defenders. Cross County's defense made one stop last week against Marked Tree when junior DT Jerome Robinson knifed through for a game-preserving tackle for loss with 10 seconds left.
E. POINSETT COUNTY (12) at Walnut Ridge: Walnut Ridge had not looked sharp in the preseason but exploded last week for 56 points at Cedar Ridge with the return of senior RB Eric Wilcoxsin. EPC's defense has emerged early this fall, allowing 10 ppg while recording eight takeaways. Senior LB A.J. Turner collected 30 tackles last week in a 34-14 win over McCrory.

4-2A
MAGAZINE (12) at Hackett: See 2A Game of the Week.
MOUNTAINBURG (35) at Decatur: No. 22 Mountainburg may not win the 4-2A but the 2-0 Dragons could have a say in who does. They whipped Union Christian 40-18 last week. Hackett and Magazine come to Mountainburg this fall.
Hartford at DANVILLE (42): No. 2 Danville played without three key defenders, two starting offensive linemen and its starting QB last week but still managed to beat potent Hackett 42-36. Danville senior RB Sean Tyra ran 26 times for 331 yards behind a line led by junior guard Jaymie Tolbert.
J.C. Westside at UNION CHRISTIAN (2): The loser is in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. UCA flogged Westside 44-9 a year ago.
NORPHLET (1) at Western Yell: Norphlet managed a field goal last week against No. 3 Junction City. Western Yell did not score in a 50-0 loss at J.C. Westside.

5-2A
Bigelow at QUITMAN (2): Quitman scoring at will with its passing game and special teams. Jamen Ellis returned a kickoff 75 yards for a TD and junior Chase Stewart ran back a kick 85 yards for a score last week in a 46-43 win over Conway Christian.
Hector at TWO RIVERS (10): Hector lost to Poyen by six points a year ago. Last week, Poyen blanked Hector 26-0.
Poyen at MAGNET COVE (35): Magnet Cove senior RB Jeff Pinkston ran for 221 yards and four TDs last week in a 40-6 rout of Mountain Pine.
MINERAL SPRINGS (42) at Mountain Pine: No. 6 Mineral Springs off and running with 112 points after two wins behind junior RB Rashad Williams. Williams has rushed for 515 yards and nine TDs. A year ago, Williams rushed for 2,301 yards and 29 TDs.
Cutter M. Star at CONWAY CHRISTIAN (22): Conway Christian moved the football well in losses to Arkansas Baptist (49-20) and Quitman (46-43).

6-2A
ENGLAND (2) at S'side Batesville: England's team speed too much for 2-4A upstart Southside Batesville. England hung with No. 5 Strong in the opener and torched 2-3A member Episcopal Collegiate 47-0 last week.
Marvell at ASHDOWN (35): Ashdown won this matchup 37-0 a year ago.
CARLISLE (8) at Barton: Carlisle counters Barton's team speed with a ball-control offense, featuring sophomore RB Bo Weddle (270 yards in 2010). A year ago, Barton ran for 393 yards in a 33-16 win over Carlisle.
Des Arc at HARDING ACADEMY (13): Des Arc rebounded from its opening loss at Parkers Chapel to trounce 2-3A Brinkley 48-13 last week. A year ago, Harding Academy escaped Des Arc with an ugly 8-6 win but eventually played for the Class 3A state title.

CLARENDON (22) at Drew Central: 3-4A member Jonesboro Westside ended a 15-game losing streak last week by beating Drew Central 37-22.

7-2A
MURFREESBORO (6) at Centerpoint: Coach David Willis bringing run-first (Wing T) football back to Murfreesboro, and senior QB Tyler Krumnow and fullback Brannon Buck (5-11, 205) have adapted in easy wins over Bismarck and the DeQueen JV.
Foreman at MAUD, TEXAS (21): Genoa Central beat Foreman 57-31. Maud, Texas beat Genoa Central 44-18.

Gurdon at LAFAYETTE COUNTY (4): Gurdon outscored Benton Harmony Grove 32-0 in the second half last week. Lafayette County trailed No. 6 Mineral Springs by two TDs with three minutes left before losing 77-40.
MOUNT IDA (2) at Lavaca: Mount Ida makes it three in a row over Lavaca, which has lost its first two games by a combined 91-13.
Genoa Central at SPRING HILL (21): Spring Hill improves to 3-0 vs. the 6-3A with wins over Lafayette County (33-20) and Fouke (42-7).
Fouke at DIERKS (2): Scrappy Dierks became the first team this fall to score on 6-3A Smackover's defense in a 32-13 loss last week at Smackover.
Idabel, Okla. at HORATIO (1): Level of competition steps up this week for No. 14 Horatio. Idabel beat Horatio 21-13 a year ago.

8-2A
Woodlawn at JUNCTION CITY (35): No. 4 Bearden held Woodlawn to 69 rushing yards in a 40-0 shutout last week. Three Junction City running backs combined for 54 attempts and 324 yards in a 26-3 win over No. 34 Norphlet. The Dragons held Norphlet to 11 yards on 24 rushing attempts.
PARKERS CHAPEL (32) at Hampton: Parkers Chapel moves up three notches to No. 7 after pushing Class 4A No. 16 McGehee. McGehee intercepted a pass at its 22-yard line with 1:35 left to secure a 27-20 victory. Parkers Chapel gained 281 yards while McGehee amassed 282 yards.
NORPHLET (1) at Western Yell: Norphlet QB Michael Tipton completed 14 of 19 passes for 126 yards last week against No. 3 Junction City, while J.C. Westside clobbered WYC 50-0.
Smackover at STRONG (3): No. 5 Strong was idle last week while 6-3A member Smackover big-played Dierks (32-13) with a 47-yard TD run, 40-yard punt return, 21-yard TD run and 58-yard TD run.
