No. 4 RIVERCREST (2-0) at Class 4A Forrest City (0-2) Rivercrest beat class 2A East Poinsett County last Friday 56-22 to move to 2-0. QB Cavonta Washington (16-19 passing, 259 yards, 6 TDs; 15-113 rushing, 1 TD) and Buddah Harris (7-133 receiving, 4 TDs) led the Colts. Washington has completed 25 of 35 passes for 423 yards and 7 TDs, while Harris has caught 10 passes for 176 yards and 4 TDs in 2 games. “This week's game against Forrest City will be a tough matchup for us,” Rivercrest Coach Johnny Flemming says. “They have to be the best 0-2 team in the state.” Opposing coaches rave about Forrest City receivers Roshawd Washington, Jacori Buchanan and Vonterrious Williams and believe them to be some of the top talent in class 4A. Expect QB Dakwon Scott and RB Kevin Young Jr. to contribute to the offense as well.

Heavener, Okla (2-0) at NO. 9 CHARLESTON (0-2)Heavner, Okla., has wins over Central (Sallisaw, Okla.) and Panama (Okla.). Charleston remains in the top 10 after a 35-34 loss to Class 4A Ozark. QB Carter Little (21-31 passing, 295 yards, 2 TDs; 1 rushing TD), WR Emiliano Gaona (7-156 receiving, 2 TDs) and RB Garred Smithson (13-106 rushing, 2 TDs; 4-36 receiving) led the offense for the Tigers.

Class 4A HUNTSVILLE (0-2) at West Fork (0-2) Huntsville eyes its first win after opening with losses to Class 5A Clinton and Class 4A Lamar. West Fork lost to Class 4A Lincoln 46-18 last week. QB Cooper Ridenoure (3-8 passing, 52 yards, 1 TD), RB Bryson Whitmill (17-100 rushing, 2 TDs) and WR Todd Bowen (2-41 receiving, 1 TD) led the offense.

Class 2A Mountainburg (1-1) at HACKETT (1-1)Mountainburg lost to Baptist Prep 28-21 in its most recent game. Hackett lost to Class 4A Gentry 55-18 last Friday. QB Brycen Hamilton (15-28 passing, 216 yards, 2 TDs; 7-42 rushing, 1 TD), WR Matthew Garner (8-132 receiving, 1 TD; 5 KO returns for 110 yards) and Hagen Moses (2-51 receiving) led the Hackett offense. Ian Bennett (10 tackles), James Randolph (9 tackles) and Braden Rhyne (5 tackles, 1 forced fumble) were the top contributors.

Class 4A Green Forest (1-1) at GREENLAND (1-1)Green Forest beat West Fork 12-0 two weeks ago for its first shutout since 2022. Greenland beat Class 4A Berryville 47-21 for its first win. Look for Greenland starting QB Slade Norwood and RB Myles Cavanaugh to carry the load on offense for the Pirates against Green Forest.

2-3A

QUITMAN (1-1) vs. Class 2A Mineral Springs (0-2) (at Henderson State): Quitman evened its record with a 42-0 win over Class 2A Izard County. QB Jordon Moore-Payne (11-12 passing, 192 yards, 1 TD), RB Devon Boyce (6-82 rushing, 1 TD) and Bryson Thacker (3-83 receiving, 1 TD) led the Bulldogs offense. Mineral Springs has lost to Bismarck and Fordyce .

MOUNTAIN VIEW (1-1) at Piggott (0-2): Mountain View beat Class 4A Berryville 24-7 two weeks ago. RB Drew Isbell (15-82 rushing, 1 TD) and Ladd Cook (4 -62 rushing, 1 TD) led the offense. Jesse Warden (11 tackles), Kaden Mannon (11 tackles) and Quinley Whitaker (10 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack) led on defense. Piggott lost to Cross County 50-12 last Friday. The Mohawks have been outscored 111-18 in its first 2 games.


Class 4A Berryville (0-2) at YELLVILLE-SUMMIT (1-1)Berryville comes in off a 47-21 loss to Greenland 47-21. Both of the Bobcats' losses have come against teams in a lower classification. Yellville-Summit lost to Class 2A Hector. The Panthers produced 252 yards of offense in that game. QB Noah Cantrall (8-15 passing, 114 yards; 21-104 rushing, 1 TD) and WR Kyloh Koksma (2-43 receiving; 5 carries, 1 rushing TD) led Yellville-Summit's offense.

CLASS 2A BAPTIST PREP (2-0) at Episcopal (0-2): Baptist Prep beat Mountainburg 28-21 last week behind QB Nick Cumming (15-21 passing, 277 yards, 3 TD) and WR Aaron Fielder (11-245 receiving, 2 TDs). Episcopal lost to Class 2A Bearden 43-0. The Wildcats  have been outscored 82-0 in the first 2 games.

3-3A

Class 2A EAST POINSETT COUNTY (0-2) at Manila (0-2)EPC lost 56-32 to Rivercrest last week, its second consecutive loss against top 5 teams in Class 3A.  Manila lost 43-6 to Marked Tree last Friday night, and it has been outscored 71-13 in its first 2 matchups. EPC has won 4 of the last 5 matchups against Manila.

4-3A

CLASS 4A HASKELL HARMONY GROVE (0-2) at Jessieville (1-1): Haskell, down 28-7 against Rison, ended up losing 28-20 after being stopped inches short on fourthdown with less than a minute left. Jessieville beat Class 2A Mount Ida 31-28 last week for its first win. The Lions have scored at least 3 touchdowns in both of their games.

CLASS 2A HECTOR (1-1) at Danville (1-1): Hector won 20-14 over Yellville-Summit for its first win. Danville had a bye last week after beating Class 2A Johnson County Westside 48-28. Hector has won 4 of the last 5 matchups over Danville.

CLASS 4A FOUNTAIN LAKE (0-2) at Cutter Morning Star (0-2) (Thurs.): Fountain Lake led Centerpoint 12-8 at halftime last week before giving up 2 TDs in a 13- second span in the third quarter to fall 38-24. Cutter Morning Star fell to Mountain Pine 60-32 in a matchup of former 8-man teams. The Eagles have allowed opponents to score at least 5 touchdowns in both games this season.

Two Rivers (0-2) at CLASS 2A HAMPTON (1-1)Two Rivers lost to Class 2A Magazine last week 20-6. The Gators have allowed opponents to score 62 points in 2 games. Hampton beat Foreman 42-30 last Friday, the program's first win since it beat Baptist Prep 58-20 in 2022.

Class 5A Hope (0-2) at NO. 1 PRESCOTT (2-0)Hope, losers of 8 in a row dating back to last season, fell 26-14 to Ashdown last week. Prescott returns to action following a bye last week. The Curley Wolves last outing was a come from behind win against Salem after trailing the Greyhounds 22-10 at halftime. Prescott was off last week after rallying for a 31-22 victory over Salem two weeks ago. Prescott scored the final 21 points, including 2 TDs in the final 2 minutes of the fourth quarter. QB Decari Prater (11-21 passing, 171 yards, 1 TD; 23-72 rushing, 2 TDs) and WR Michael Brownlee (2-52 receiving, 1 TD) led the Curley Wolves. Prescott has won 7 in a row against Hope.

Class 2A Spring Hill (1-1) at CENTERPOINT (2-0)Spring Hill lost 14-0 to Mount Ida two weeks ago and was off last Friday. Centerpoint defeated Fountain Lake 38-24 after trailing 12-8 at halftime. The Knights scored 2 TDs in 13 seconds in the third quarter to spark the rally. QB Drew Diggs (11-15 passing, 164 yards, 2 TDs), Beau McGough (17-95 rushing, 1 TD) and Bryce Harless (5-76 receiving) led the Knights.

Horatio (1-1) at CLASS 2A LAFAYETTE COUNTY (1-1)Horatio defeated Class 2A Foreman 26-22 to end the Lions' 10-game losing streak. Lafayette County lost to Class 5A De Queen 19-18 last week. The Cougars won the most recent matchup against Horatio 42-38.

8-3A

McGehee (0-2) at CLASS 4A DEWITT (2-0): McGehee has been outscored 52-29 in its first 2 games, including a 25-7 loss to former 4A conference opponent Star City. DeWitt defeated Jacksonville 35-7 last week. The Dragons have held each of their opponents to a single touchdown, while the Dragons offense has scored at least 30 points in both outings.

CLASS 4A MONTICELLO (1-1) at Dumas (0-2): The Billies, who have won 4 of the last 5 meetings against the Bobcats, defeated Class 5A Bauxite 41-20 last Friday. Dumas was shutout by Class 4A Hamburg 31-0, and the Bobcats were held to 120 total yards.

Class 2A Earle (0-2) at BARTON (2-0)Brian Powell rushed 23 times for 208 yards and 3 TDs in Earle's 44-30 loss to Walnut Ridge. Clifton Wren led the defense with 13 tackles. Barton beat Class 2A Marianna 22-6 last Friday. The Bears have outscored their opponents 56-18 in 2 games.

Class 5A Stuttgart (JV team) at NO. 10 RISON (2-0) (Tues.)Rison picked up a 28-20 win over Class 4A Haskell Harmony Grove on Friday night. The Wildcats started last season 0-7 but have gone 5-1 since then, and has outscored opponents 66-36 this season. The game for Stuttgart will not count towards the senior high record as they will play their junior varsity team against Rison on Tuesday.

Class 2A Marianna (0-1) at PALESTINE-WHEATLEY (1-0)Marianna fell to Barton 22-6 on Friday night. Palestine-Wheatley was off last week after beating Class 2A Cross County 34-21. The win was the first for Tyler Paschal as head coach of the team and it came against his dad, Van Paschal, the head coach of Cross County.

Lake Village (1-1) at CLASS 4A STAR CITY (2-0)Lake Village lost 40-0 against Class 4A LR Hall last week. The Beavers have won 3 of their last 11 games. Star City blocked 3 punts against McGehee last week in a 25-7 win, giving them 5 blocked punts in 2 games. Star City has won the last 10 matchups against Lake Village.
