HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
NO. 4 BRINKLEY (1-1) at No. 7 Augusta (1-1) The Tigers rebounded after a Week 0 loss with a big win over Guy-Perkins and are well-rested for a road trip to Augusta. A last-second Sept. 6 comeback win over Dermott had the Red Devils riding high, but they are scrambling to pick up the pieces after suffering a tough home loss to Marvell.
WEEK 3 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS and highlighted)
NO. 2 CEDAR RIDGE (3-0) at Hermitage (0-2): Cedar Ridge pulled away from Subiaco Academy in difficult weather conditions, and the Timberwolves take the best record in all of 8-man to Hermitage, where the Hermits are hunting their first win.
CORNING (2-0) at Tunica (Miss.) Academy (3-0) The Bobcats, fresh from a 52-12 win over Rose Bud, travel to Mississippi for the first time to take on an undefeated Tunica Academy team.
DEWAR (Okla.) (1-1) at Dermott (1-1) Dermott evened its record to .500 with a 62-6 win over a fledgling Guy-Perkins program to give Michal Wolfe his first win. The Rams face a big challenge this week as Oklahoma 8-man powerhouse Dewar, which has compiled double-digit wins for 6 consecutive seasons.
Guy-Perkins (0-3) at NO. 10 WOODLAWN (1-1): Guy-Perkins scored its first points last week, but there was not much else to write about in a lopsided 62-6 road loss to Dermott. Woodlawn looks to get back on track at home against the Thunderbirds after falling to Midland 26-0 after beating Rose Bud 50-18 in the opener.
Marshall (1-2) at SUBIACO ACADEMY (2-1): Marshall has mustered 26 points in the past 2 games after winning its opener 82-0 over Guy Perkins. Subiaco Academy beat Southwest Christian Academy and Marvell before falling 34-12 to Cedar Ridge last week.
NO. 5 MIDLAND (2-0): at Rose Bud (0-3): Midland is riding high after winning consecutive games for the first time since 2018 with a shutout over Woodlawn. Rose Bud will have its hands against a Midland team averaging 42.0 points per game.
