HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 13 Mansfield at No. 7 Paris
Both teams lost last week to Class 4A teams. Mena beat Mansfield 41-14, while Paris fell to Farmington 26-0.
Mansfield has won two of the past three games in this series. But Paris pounded the Tigers 42-0 last fall. "We're a lot better than we were last year," Mansfield coach Jason Gill says. "It's going to be a war." Mansfield will be without sophomore running back/kicker Bo Patterson (broken collarbone vs. Greenland) and senior cornerback Ryan Glenn (concussion vs. Greenland).
Paris beat Johnson County Westside and Waldron by a combined 89-0 before losing to Farmington. Junior RB Justin Estala ran three times for 147 yards and two touchdowns against Waldron. The Eagles feature a veteran defense led by senior linebacker Ryan Spencer. "They're a hardnosed team and have a lot of speed at positions we don't have," Gill says.
