HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 2 Camden Fairview at No. 6 Hot Springs Lakeside
Undefeated Hot Springs Lakeside faces its toughest test of the season. The Rams started last season with a 3-0 record, won seven games and advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2003. But they fell 33-19 at Camden Fairview. "We know that Camden is the measuring stick for our conference and Class 5A," Hot Springs Lakeside coach Jared McBride said. "We'll get a good indication of where we are by playing them." HS Lakeside senior receiver Ajalen Holley has generated more than 300 yards of offense this fall despite battling through an ankle injury. Holley caught three touchdown passes, including the game-clincher, in last week's 33-28 triumph over Class 3A Fountain Lake. Senior linebackers Houston Hunter and Harlan Jones solidify the Rams' improved defense.
Camden Fairview counters with senior utility back Derek Keaton, who has orally committed to Kansas. Keaton has rushed 23 times for 172 yards (7.5 yards per carry) and three TDs this fall, while catching nine passes for 106 yards. "Lakeside is good at what they do," Camden Fairview coach Buck James said. "They are aggressive on defense, you never know who to block or who's going to blitz." Camden Fairview's defensive front improved the past two weeks after getting handled by Class 6A El Dorado in the opener.
