Senior quarterback Trevor Rucker has accounted for 656 total yards and 10 touchdowns this year. Senior running back Brandon Marks paces the Curley Wolves with 41 carries for 394 yards (9.6 yards per carry) and nine TDs. "They're very fast and physical," Smackover coach Brian Strickland says. "They're good at what they do and line up in different sets to confuse you."
Smackover beat 8-2A members Norphlet, Strong and Hermitage by a combined 122-16 before beating Fouke 47-12 last week. Senior fullback Korey Purifoy ran five times for 65 yards and a TD and caught five passes for 112 yards and a score against the Panthers. Senior QB Jase Saulsbury generated 153 total yards and four TDs. Sophomore defensive back Elmore Hempstead intercepted two passes, returning one 38 yards for a score. The Buckaroos allow close to 100 yards per game. "Our defense has been doing a good job giving us short fields to drive," Strickland says.
