HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 11 Prescott at No. 7 Fountain Lake
Fountain Lake beat Prescott 37-7 in the 2009 Class 3A state title game. This is their first meeting as conference foes since 2005. Prescott junior quarterback Jesse Glass has completed 37 of 71 passes (52 percent) for 535 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions this year. Junior running back Daniel McCoy has 61 carries for 552 yards (9 yards per carry) and nine TDs. Senior Dominique Ingram paces Prescott receivers with 11 catches for 132 yards. Senior playmaker Ke'Andrae Ballance gains more than 10 yards per touch and returned a punt 48 yards at Gurdon. Seniors Tanner Fortner (team-high 31 tackles) and James Stayton (team-high 5.5 sacks) spearhead the Prescott defense.

Fountain Lake coach Tommy Gilleran knew his offense needed to compensate for a young defense to win early this year. But the Cobras were outscored 90-48 in non-conference play. Last week, Fountain Lake gained confidence with a 41-0 win at Centerpoint. Three Cobras have lined up at quarterback, completing 11 of 24 passes for 209 yards, one TD and two interceptions this season. Senior all-state running back Mark Makin has 58 carries for 530 yards (9 yards per carry) and five TDs. Junior safety Dale Smith and junior linebacker David Helms lead the Cobra defense with 24 and 23 tackles, respectively. Fountain Lake is undefeated at home in 5-3A play since dropping down from Class 4A in 2008.
